Anyone done it themselves? Seems easy enough. Watched a few YouTube videos. Any suggestions?

I’ve done a few. This year I plan on doing a pillar and glass bed. Most of the ones I’ve done were wood stocks but I did do a synthetic once. If doing synthetic, you should build mechanical locks into the stock like wedges and cavities.
It’s not hard. Just go over all the instructions several times. Take your time.

What sort of bedding compound did you use?
Measurable increase in accuracy before and after?

Use a lot of the release agent.

Watch the youtube videos from Midway, Larry Potterfield, that man knows his stuff and is very easy to follow.

I used acraglass. On one rifle my groups shrank just a bit. Most did not change either way. But being I hunt with wood stocks i like to bed them because of expansion and warping.

I bedded a stock a couple of months ago for a 300 Win Mag I built. Only one I've ever done but the things I learned were to use plenty of release agent, playdoh is easier to fill voids with than plumbers putty and to use plenty of bedding compound to eliminate voids. Also, make sure to wipe off excess bedding material fairly quick as its easier than letting it set up some first. I used MarineTex for my bedding compound and Kiwi shoe polish as a release agent and everything came apart with no problems and no bedding pulling out after the curing period.
