So my brother has procrastinated and missed the sale on the tikkas and the meoptas. We are two months out from our trip so now hes got a fire under his arse, any combo/pairing recommendations?

Caliber 7mag and preferably a 4x12 but 3x9 will work to.

Which savage, they have a few different rifles and I have heard the quality varies a bit.

116 stainless. A tikka stainless may be slightly better but I've read good things about that savage rifle

I have a savage 116 weather warrior in 7mm rem mag that I love. It is the model with the accutrigger and accustock. This is my first savage, coming from a browning abolt. For the price they are hard to beat, think I paid mid 500s for mine. I mounted a zeiss conquest hd5 that I picked up from cabelas on sale. I believe I have around 1100 on my set up.

Don't know why the GSR hardly gets mentioned in these threads (often downvoted when it is), they are great rifles and the scout setup offers a lot more versatility than conventional rifles.

I personally won't buy it because of the fuggin clip and muzzle brake. I like everything else about the rifle (a lot) but the tactical shite really ruins it for me.

No muzzle brake and a hinged floor plate and I'd be much more interested.

Currently, I'm far more interested in the Ruger guide gun in .30-06

One of the budget rifles with good glass. Ruger American, Remington 700, mossberg ATR, etc etc.

Any of them will shoot minute-of-killt-animal

Saw Sportmans guide has a 7mm Ruger American all weather for $350.

Never mind it's a 7mm-08.
