Found a Leupold Rifleman 3x9 for 199.99 on sale with free shipping. Do I just need a mounting base as well? What about Rings?

.30-06 SPRG

My Gramps gave it to me when I was 12 (37 now) and I still got the same old Redfield 3x9 it originally had

You simply were pissing in the wind if you didn't have a 3-9 Redfield on a 30-06 back in the day. I swear every man in my family over 40 has one of those.

suga,
Congrats on a good choice for a new scope. In addition, the 30-06 round is a deer killing machine. Now you need a nice base and rings to mount that scope to your gun.

There are a lot of good bases/rings out there. I've tried a number of different set ups through the years, but if given the choice, I now exclusively use a Burris one piece base w/ Burris Signature Zee Rings, all Weaver style.

Find a base to fit whatever gun you have here.

Then find rings to fit your scope here.

Enjoy your hunting!

I'm a fan of leupold rings and bases. There might be better stuff out there, but I've never had the screws back out on leupold stuff. Pretty stupid and very unscientific reason to use it, but it's enough to keep me happy.

Absolute truth. My brother shot an 8 point a couple weeks ago with my grandpa's old 700 in 30-06 with a Redfield Wideview scope. Classic.

And congrats on the Leupold! I have a Redfield Revolution (now made by Leupold) on my AR15 and it's held an amazing zero. You got a hell of a deal on that one. My Redfield is a 4-12x40mm and it was $220.
