Food Plot Spraying Questions

Already thinking ahead to planting a spring / summer and have some questions. Here is scenario. Have a good piece of land that Is tough for me to get to in summer because of all kids stuff so time is very valuable. I have all equipment so that is no issue.
I am looking to plant about 5 acres of corn and 4 acres of Soybeans and leave it standing for my fall plot.
After this winter is over, I am planning on spraying existing plots with Round Up and killing all the grasses, disc it, and then will no till drill in Corn and Soybeans.
My concern is this:
How can I protect my crop from Army Worms and any other insects that will destroy my hard work?
Questions:
When I spray with Round up can I mix in an insecticide to start trying to keep them away?
Would the Insecticide and Round up be compatible and still be effective?
How long would the effect of the insecticide last?
I don't have one of those big jacked up tractor sprayers so how would I continue to spray crop with insecticides with out running over the crop and damaging it on a normal tractor?
How often would you Spray for insects?
Thanks in advance. Appreciate it.

Roundup is compatible with pretty much all insecticides. If you don’t have a pesticide applicator license, or know someone that does, you’re not going to be able to get the “good stuff”. On the same note, you would also have access to roundup resistant corn and soybean varieties as well as stacked gene/bt worm resistant corn. None of this will be cheap, but would be the Cadillac version. Any pyrethroid will give you a contact kill on your army worms with no residual. Army worms can be tough sometimes. There are contact with residual available ( Beseige) but that’s going to be real expensive. Obviously this is overkill just for a food plot situation. If you don’t have access to any of this via pesticide applicator license, then you’ll be limited in your options.

I do this every year. The hunting over it is amazing. Dont plant too early. I usually plant mid to end of june. Plant too early and they will eat it before hunting season. If you have hogs dont waste your time on corn. I use a sprayer on the back of a 4 wheeler with a homemade boom sprayers. If you kill a little riding over it to spray it, its no big deal. I spray at about 8 inches then again when corn is about as tall at the 4 wheeler.

Spray a lay by pass.
Quart of round up
2 quarts atrazine
Pint if dual
To the acre.
That should keep the grass out until the corn shaded the middle. Then you will be fine.

I planted double stack (round up ready and BT) corn this year and never had to spray for worms and only sprayed round-up once when it was about 12-18 inches tall.
That one spraying allowed the corn to out compete the other weeds.
Since it's only for deer and your not trying to turn a profit on it, you can be a little more lax on the treatments.
