Me and a buddy were fishing at Big Lake this morning and managed to snag this fishing a shrimp on the bottom. Any idea what it is?

Oyster Fish. Be careful they have some serious jaw strength.

How do they fry? I am assuming good with some cocktail sauce and horseradish

Lip him like a bass to get him to be still while you take the hook out, otherwise he will fin you. They have hidden fins. Only safe way to hold him is to put your thumb in his mouth.

I know a guy who had only bass fished before, and went on his first offshore trip with friends. The first small snapper he caught, he leaned over the boat and lipped it. He said it felt like a pair of vice grips with teeth latched onto his thumb.

Caught a toad fish and two lizard fish near shore this weekend at Wrightsville Beach, NC trying to catch reds. First time catching either of those for me too. Nasty looking little thing the toad fish was.
