I saw they added a wind proof membrane to their outerwear, I was thinking about upgrading but it hasn’t ever bothered me. I might hold out a little longer

Same here, I have the Solitude set and it never seemed to let the wind in like some reviews claim.

Don't own any First Lite. Any specific pieces of gear that I should look at for deer, turkey or duck hunting?

My first piece was the furnace 3/4 zip, it’s 350 merino wool it was bought to be a layer under a light jacket and it’s almost to warm. I wore it last year a several times in the 30s with just a sweatshirt over the top.
I bought several more pieces and now have the kiln hoody with the intent of it being a stand alone layer when warmer or under a light coat or vest when cooler.
I have a buddy that wears his kiln for Turkey season and it’s fine from 50s to 80s.
I will probably buy a set of merino kiln zip off base layer bottoms and a merino vest.
One thing to keep in mind that the merino is very warm and is great when wet but it’s not very durable as in busting through briars

Yeah I sold my sanctuary set and bought a solitude set last year. It’s definitely possible to be too warm. I’m glad you said that, I was looking at the zip off furnace boot tops. I think I’m gonna get a kiln hoody and kiln boot tops.

I have a bunch of merino first lite base layers but they are all really old, I think they are the processor to the kiln, like a mid weight. Do you ever wear the wick stuff when it’s hot? I’m curious if it’s alright for that. My synthetic stuff smells horrible after I sweat in it for a day.

Picked up some corrugate guide pants in Fusion, a sweatshirt and some Mercury lightweight crew socks!

If I didnt have a few already I'd certainly pick up some short sleeve wick shirts at that price.

Yeah, Wick for early season then Wick + Kiln when it starts to cool off

The Furnace is warm as hell

I pretty much only wear my Solitude set when I hunt in the Midwest

Fine, I’ll get some wick stuff too. I agree about the solitude stuff, with good layers you can cover everything from 5 degrees to 40 degrees. I would’ve kept the sanctuary stuff but almost ANY movement and you start sweating.

Hey,

Build me a 2nd rifle season elk hunt high altitude getup assuming i was starting with nothing.

Temps from teens to mid-40's and likely snow.

I'm not familiar with first lites product line at all, I just have some kuiu stuff and really good boots. What would you buy today??

Set of puffys and a set off the catalyst also bought kiln hoody and merino insulated underwear I the 150’s

That was a text I had saved from a few years ago when I asked what one of my buddies wore on his elk hunt in Wyoming. I was asking for a buddy that was going to Utah, he ended up piecing together some kuiu.
My buddy that hunted Wyoming said he wore that get up and would add the puffy when sitting and glassing they were rifle hunting and had snow.
