FWIW:

I bought a rifle from the Cabelas gun library (pre-BPS takeover). Negotiated with the manager, got a deal, and they gave me great service. Bought guns from Bowies in BR and Ntz - always enjoy the service and customer TLC (disclaimer: went to HS with the store manager in Ntz). Bowies prices are up there with MSRP though. Spillway Sportsman across the river is like Bowies, great customer TLC, guns are MSRP. They are great when you want to really shop for the right gun. If you know exactly what you want, go to gunbroker and hunt for a deal.

When you say service, what are you looking for them to provide?

Dont forget, you have to spend $250 or more on your lower to not be considered a budget lower.

Academy and Bass Pro will price match each which comes in handy. Check both prices and availability at them.

I love supporting local but I buy most of my guns online now. It's just the best way to go

Find a place that doesn't charge for a transfer and buy online.

I'm usually not a fan of Displaced Buckeye's shtick but you're kinda proving his point here.

If you are going to buy a Glock, join the Glock Shooters Club and wait for them to send you the discount card. I think it cost $50 for a two year membership. Once you join, you will get a discount card mailed to you this year and one next year. Once you have the card go to Baton Rouge Police supply and save about $100 off the costs of the Glock

That’s pretty much the case with any shop around here

They’ll have their sales reps drop stuff off on their way home from work
