Any of you guys have an F150 with the Powerboost engine? Tossing around the idea of trading my truck in on one for some better mpg without losing 4 wheel drive and towing capabilities. Just looking for some real life reviews and mpg numbers. I’ve heard the braking has a weird feel that takes some getting used to.

Ive got an 18' 4D 4x4 with the 2.7 and love it. The only thing I've done to it was added an add a leaf kit to the rear to eliminate it sagging when loaded after I leveled it. Its been a solid truck so far in its 70k miles. The power isn't lacking thats for sure. i drove the v8 model as well as the one I bought when I was making my decision. As soon as I drove the Ecoboost I knew that was the one I wanted

I test drove the powerboost and the power was great. The brake was a little mushy but not bad and nothing you wouldn’t get used to.

He's asking about the hybrid powerboost not the ecoboost.

Following as I'm interested in it as well. The diesel doesn't seem like it's living up to what I thought it could be. Gas prices are killing my 2013 3.5 even.

My 6cyl ecoboost is great except when I have a trailer hooked to it.Im lucky to get 10mpg on the hughway pulling an empty trailer.

I'm interested to hear about the Powerboost's milage when towing.

From my understanding, the Powerboost is the 3.5 eco boost mated to an electric motor then the transmission. The horsepower and torque ratings are impressive and the EPA ratings are 24 city/24 highway. There just isn’t a large inventory of the trucks with the Powerboost that aren’t the top of the line trim.

Yeah the powerboost is the 3.5 ecoboost, which is already stout, paired with the electric motor. Power rating is through the roof. It’s got the power of the Raptor. 24mpg.

No idea about longevity.

I drove one around my area and the torque and overall performance were unbelievable.

Not sure about longevity.

I test drove a Lariat with a powerboost awhile back. It rode great and I liked the interior. I read about Ford having rust issues with these newer models, so I took a look underneath and didn’t like what I was seeing.
This is a $70k truck still on the lot. Brand new. Not a deal breaker for some people, but it was for me (on top of that price tag). You baws be careful what you buy out there

It is just surface rust. i'm not sure why all of the parts aren't painted well though. My 2018 platinum looked like this six months after I bought it so I am sure this is how it was when it was new. It doesn't bother me as I don't crawl under my truck for anything ever.

haha but seriously that doesn't look good, wouldn't be a deal breaker as I'd just get a different one that didn't have the rust on the lot but still not sure what Ford did differently on this generation.

Yep I test drove an F150 with that same exact surface rust on a Lariat. Salesman said he never saw it before and it’s just normal. The rust may be merely cosmetic, I don’t know, but I know my 6 year old Tundra has no rust under it.

Buy with confidence - the near future rear pinion seal leak will take care of that rust.

To answer the question, I have one and absolutely love it. My favorite vehicle I've ever owned. The torque is incredible

I had a ‘15 eco boost. While it may have rode smooth and had some serious acceleration (and good mpg) it sucked towing a 18’ double axel trailer with a 40 hp tractor on it. It was 4x4 and just driving 30 miles to the camp my a-hole was puckering the whole time. I have a tundra now and it’s not even close as far as towing capabilities. If you’re not worried about towing, then then ecoboost is fine, btw my transmission went out at 100,000 miles.

Can the power boost trucks get a proper lift? I love the idea but I’d like to customize it some.
