F150 2014 3.5L V6
Considering buying a used truck, never looked into the twin turbo v6.

Pros and Cons?

do some search on some forums. the first generation 3.5's had some issues. I'm not sure what year they redesigned the 3.5 but it is around the year you are considering. How man miles does it have?

Is that a common issue? Most of the forums I've seen have pretty good reviews.

I think those had a lot of quality control issues.

It appears they updated the 5.0 this year, and with the 10 speed transmission are having issues. Lots of youtube videos of guys with brand new trucks and knocking issues.

How many miles? Google timing chain issues and think about it long a hard.

It’s not just an EcoBoost problem. I had a V8 that went out at 165K. I know of handful of others that have had to replace motors around that 150-175K mark, both 3.5’s and 5.0’s.

Call me when you see a maintained Tundra motor go out at that mileage

I have a 2014 FX4 with the ecoboost. If I had it to do all over again, I'd go v8. I don't hate the engine, I like my truck. But it doesn't really get any better mileage than people I know who have the V8.

So in short, I like my truck with the V6 Ecoboost but I think I would have li9ked the V8 better.

I’m at 92,000 on a 2014 5.0L. No problems yet and I love the truck.

Sum bitch is slow, though.

I have the 2014 3.5L V6. 80K miles and minimal problems. The only issue to date was replacement of a coil assembly on one cylinder.

I traded in a 2013 3.5 EB with 138,000 on it and it never saw a shop. I put disc pads, a battery, and a couple sets of tires and that is all (other than oil changes) I ever did.

With factory tires it got 17-18 and 35's it got 14. I did level it and put a winch/brush guard on it. Crew cab, Lariat, offroad package, and 5.5 bed with 3.55's in it

I have a 2014 3.5L V6 and it has only seen the shop once and that was within the first 1,000 miles.

I experienced a misfire due to a condensation build up. Do some research on that with the EBs.

I had a 12'.JUNK. They were hit and miss in the early years. I've heard pretty good things of them as of late. They can pull anything within reason really well. I would get the 5.0 though.

Had a 2013 and put right at 100K miles on it with no issues at all before I decided to switch to a Tundra. I was worried about it after 100K since my extended warranty was going to expire. It was a 6 speed and did not get near the MPG that Ford claimed it would get and I am not a fast driver.

I love my 5.7 V8 Tundra. Well to tell you the truth, I get may 1 to 1.5 MPG less than I did with my 3.5 EB.

2012 3.5L EB XLT. 105K.
Love mine. Only issue I've had is an occasional stumble if driving in heavy rain. Changed spark plugs and issue went away. Power is unreal and I get about 20mpg on the interstate. I don't understand all the problems people claim to have had with the EB. Maybe I'm lucky.

I have a 2015 3.5L V6 with 95k miles. It gets about 19.5 mpg and has no problem at all pulling a 22’ bay boat. It’s always idled a little rough, but I’ve read that it’s not uncommon for some reason. I haven’t had any issues so far.
