Exotic home defense rounds

So in my research for looking for home defense rounds obviously something like a hollow point is typically the most common for its stopping power. What are some of the more exotic options? I've seen some expanding slugs that seem pretty ridiculous and I'm not sure if it's something that would actually work or something that's mostly a gimmick. It is pretty interesting though to see some of the things companies will come up with.

Those extreme penetration rounds would probably tighten somebody's arse up. They're made like a phillip's head screwdriver.

G2 Research RIP is what I keep in my .40 conceal carry. RIP stands for Radically Invasive Projectile

I was testing out my new linx 12 gauge friday and shot up a tree using buckshot and then followed up with #8 target loads. I was surprised that the target load did much more damage on the tree. I was only about 5 feet away so I am sure the buckshot would have performed better than the target load at say 10-15 feet but i was impressed at the damage the target load did to the tree tbh. I would have no issue shooting someone with target load out of a shotgun.
I havent tried any of the crazy rounds like the dragons breath or flechettes. Not something i think I would want to shoot in my house.

Those look interesting but I'd hate to have to defend my choice of ammo in court after a self defense shooting.

better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Ive always heard dumb arguments like that but has anyone been convicted of murder based on choice of a legal round of ammunition? I could get that argument if you used illegal ammo. That would be like saying someone isnt guilty because they used a revolver instead of a semi.

WUT??????????????
I seriously doubt using an Underwood bullet vs Federal bullet is going to make a difference in a court of law Baw.
If it's a good shoot there should not be a problem unless it happens in North Baton Rourgh.
Underwood claims 18" penetration so not a critical defense bullet IMO, more like bears an shite defense. BB also has a disclaimer regarding close quarters use.

I don't think there are any good exotic options. G2 RIP have been panned by just about every respectable expert as nothing but hype and less effective than any cheap hollow-point. I have always gone with heavy-for-caliber, 147gr JHP in my 9mm and 100gr FNHC in my .380.

not sure about your state but in Louisiana you cannot be sued in civil court in a justified homicide.
why would what is said on the box matter at all in what I am assuming is a justified homicide? Thats kind of the purpose of the law. I dont doubt the stupidity of some juries but I just dont see how choice of legal ammo could in any way have an outcome on a self defense shooting being ruled justified or not.

I would strongly advise against these rounds for home defense. It's pretty much the exact opposite of what you want in a home defense situation.

A 17 year old kid is getting railroaded for what was clearly justifiable homicide. A felon that illegally had a firearm in that situation is walking free with no charges. At least last I heard. I don't need anyone to have any reason to think my goat
goal was to make someone rest in peace.

Ok, well shoot him in the leg and tell the cops that you did it just to stop the attack and see how that works out for you.

No they're getting shot in the chest. Until it's over. But the box says critical defense; not RIP. Seems silly and may be unnecessary but I'm not adding any reasons to get sued or thrown in jail.

Throw the box away.

they have two similar looking but apparently different bullet types: penetrator and defense.
When I last looked at it, the penetrator allegedly will punch through most anything, not good if you are trying to avoid hurting someone on the other side of the wall, while the defender is designed to create a pressure wave and have more conventional penetration.
What do you know about the defense version that gives you pause? serious question. . .
