Was anyone fishing this area Saturday? I saw a boat that was vacant and just floating a drift. They were talking about it inside of Sand Dollar. Does anybody know what happened or have an update?

What did the coast guard say when you reported it?

That they’d look into it

Hope no one got hurt. I did have people trying to fish so close to me I could have cast my bait in there boat. Love it when they do that and still don’t catch anything. We got 56 before the tide stopped.

I saw it Saturday afternoon. It was there for at least 2-3 hours while we fished the area. It was a newer pathfinder and was anchored in the middle of nowhere. I did see another boat pull up to it at one point, but they were only there for a minute. We went over to it before we left to see if we could offer assistance but no one was on board. I called the coast guard and gave them the location and my phone number. They were supposed to talk with a supervisor and get back to me but never did. Hope everyone is ok.

Here is info regarding the Pathfinder...apparently the people just anchored the boat and hopped in another boat with a friend to go fishing.

Thats the boat..I was the second "good samaritan". I get going fishing with friends, but would probably NOT leave my boat anchored in the middle of the pass...but I am glad ell is well.

and I hope they caught some fish...

so if you mothership your kayaks out to fish, it's proper protocol to leave a note? Kinda like a scuba flag I guess.

It's a good idea to leave a note, but most people just take their keys out of the ignition. Let's people know you left it there on purpose, and it's harder to steal without the keys.

Several times I've thought about laying down on the floor of the boat during a long day of fishing to take a little break before trying to find the fish again but I never do it because every boat passing by would likely think its a man overboard situation. Would freak me out to wake up to someone looking in the boat checking to see if im alive!

In any event, I cant imagine leaving a boat like that completely unattended!

Raise a diver down flag and boats are required to stay 100ft away.

Glad it had a happy ending!
Not like the Asian spa ones.
