Effects of Storm on Atch Basin Fishing.

What's everyone's take on the impact the storm will have on the basin's fish population? Obviously the storm will be nothing like Andrew in strength, but with the water starting to fall it can get black with low DO pretty quick with large influx of storm debris.

Other situations water was low and kicked up debris on bottom which took the oxygen out of the water.
This time the water high.

It won't be good - but as was noted, water levels are much higher now than they were when Andrew hit. This alone should serve to mitigate the detrimental impact.

I agree it will not be good.
Water being high might limit the low oxygen levels.
I just do not know 100%.
Back in 1993 I visited my father and we went into the spillway the night before Andrew hit. My nephew and cousin were in one boat and my father along with myself in another boat.
We fished until 8:30 pm when winds kicked up. Water was extremely low or typical August low water levels. The water was moving out and we slammed 10 bass over 4 lbs between two boats and a lot of dink’s. The fish were in a feeding frenzy.

I was at LSU and in guard. The crabs that came out the water around bayou pigeon was stupid. Then the fish started piping, it got ugly quick.
