A friend of mine just finished his camp down in Dulac on the navigation canal and we are going fishing this weekend and want to know if anyone doing any good down there. We gonna go try around some random places but neither of us have fished down there. We will target mostly redfish but we will head further south for trout as well. Any help appreciated. I’m sure the trout are down towards coon point and last island but just thought I would ask the OB. TIA

The wind forecast this wknd not looking favorable.

I went last Sunday when the wind laid down and we were able to cull 25 keepers out of 100+ fish on the bayside.

Went Fri and we managed 50 with less throwbacks, but took an arse kicking in a 19ft boat coming back around noon.

This.

May have to find some protected water and stick to reds depending on what kind of boat you will be fishing from.

Plenty of trout to catch out by the islands, sul mine, pickets, enstar etc. For reds, follow the canals into the marsh. Head south down Grand Caillou. Right turns into La Butte, Bayou Rambo, Little lewis. All lead to tons of fishable marsh to reds all summer long. Fish the ponds. Any small or large pond deep enough to fish. Dead shrimp on a cork is the dulac way. Trout all in there too in the winter (expect this past winter because the water was so damn fresh all winter long). I've got a good number of honey holes for summer reds, but they are not easy to get to and you just have to slowly work your way back deeper into the marsh until you learn your way. Can't stress this enough - become friends with the new neighbors quick. they will be your best resource unless they are assholes. Southern Comfort??

My folks are in Cocodrie now. They did well with the reds and trout this morning on live shrimp. Going again tomorrow morning.
