Anyone one going up to sit through quarantine and then hunt? Anyone going up to hunt and saying f the quarantine?

Thinking about working remote from there for 2 weeks and then hunt for a week. Sounds like that is doable based on the regulations that I read. Big fines if you break quarantine.

Can you use an electronic call? I don't see how you will blow a goose call with a mask on?
The caller is in his own blind? Lol

I had to cancel a trip up there to fish in a couple weeks from now. I'm not sure how soon they'll be letting US citizens across the border unless you have real business for you to be there.

They won't let you cross the border without legitimate business from what I have been told by people who go fishing on the regular. One of them has property and is allowed to cross but is of course supposed to quarantine but doesn't. I was hearing though that they was a plan to allow some limited crossing for waterfowl hunting....seems the bigger outfitters have said their business is a legitimate business...who knows....

Depending on the weather we may not have much of a season in the US if they ain't pressuring them in Canada....it would seem the numbers would be through the roof but there is so much habitat and food up there that without some pressure and weather he birds my never leave Canada in any greater numbers than they always do...with some weather though, especially early, the season could be incredible just south of the border....

On the plus side if you survive like the 99.9999999999999999% of everyone does you will be done with the crap! They ought to issue survivors a card and let them gather up in bunches and do all sorts of shite those of us who ain't had it yet can't do lest some 89 year old fat man die....

We have a fishing camp just north of Ottawa and haven’t been allowed to cross yet. They wouldn’t let us self quarantine for 2 weeks even though it’s on a small lake with a few camps spread out over 5 miles or so. Had some traction end of June speaking with some Canuck officials but that dried up when we had a spike across big cities. From what I have been told it’s 500k fine if caught and 1 million / 3 years in jail if you infect anyone.

Friends who have camps and fish the 1000 islands have reported Canadian border agents enforcing maritime boundaries which has never been the case, fish and boat where you want just don’t dock were the rules.

Crappy cnn link

quote:

Failure to comply with border restrictions could lead to up to $750,000 in fines or imprisonment of up to six months. "If a traveler causes a risk of imminent death or serious bodily harm to another person while willfully or recklessly contravening this act or the regulations, they could be liable for up to $1,000,000 in fines, and/or imprisonment of up to 3 years," the border agency says.

I wouldn't be surprised....were talking about a foreigner breaking the law in an environment that is emotionally charged and a foreigner from a country which is currently very much opposed to people from other north American countries entering than we'd normally be....there is a pretty serious effort in Canada to stop Americans from crossing the border to hunt anyway, couple it with COVID concerns and our nations recent issues with border security and we aren't exactly as welcome in Canada as we once were....
