Drop net crab traps
Posted by 9th Green At 9 on 1/14/21 at 9:26 am10
Does anyone know where I can get a drop net crab trap made? I used to know a guy from Houma, but he apparently passed away a few years back. I can buy them on Amazon, but they are of lesser quality. I've also attempted to build my own, but I suck. Pic below is similar to what I had bought in the past.

Adams Fruit stand in Raceland has good ones. Alario Brothers (where I got mine) in Marrero also has really nice ones.

The B&B bait shop in Belle Chase just past the river by Popeyes has them. Nice guys, too.

If your in Houma try Hebert's Marine. I see tons on facebook market place, even some used once sets.
Last summer this became the most popular outing for everyone with their new boat.

Aliro Bros has the single ring nets, too. They are easy flipping craps into a tub and tossing back out. You occasionally will lose one, but the simplicity of the single ring design is superior IMO.

A guy on Bayou Blue sells 30" ones. Has a sign on the left side of the road before you get to Bayou Gardens from the highway.

Got mine at Alarios. They have two different nets. They also dip them as well.

I haven't used crab nets in probably 20 years, we always run a line, no net. Now that I have a boat, I want to get some nets to run with the boat. I was going to get double ring nets, but I think I might just go with the single ring nets, it is what we always had and they worked and were easy to set out and empty.
