What’s y’all field’s looking like? Mine is grown up in Johnson grass and pig weed, might be able to knock down a dove or two on the opener.

I planted brown top millet and sunflowers.

The millet is severely stunted but finally putting out seed heads and the sunflowers pretty much all died.

We went about 6-7 weeks with extremely hot dry weather.

That’s the story this year. It’s going to be feast or famine 1st split.

Yet, I can plant it in spring, bush hog it 2 weeks prior and throw out wheat for “soil erosion”.

Run a bush hog over it the weekend prior to opening day.

When we were young and dumb we had some wooden troughs we made about 3-4' long, we would fill them with wheat for a month or so then remove them the day before season.

Worked like a charm - It ain't worth getting caught now though

Mine looks great but I am concerned about when to cut strips as it is so wet. I got to get some clean ground with seed down on it but I am afraid the seed will germinate before opening day in this wet weather.

Ready to burn one of the three 1 acer plots of millet I planted at staggering times.. this is the first one to be ready but just won’t stop raining long enough to burn . it’s brown and matted down. I have about 50 to 80 birds in it every evening right now

For 60 days the only rain I got was a light sprinkle…and then a week before July 4 a monsoon came and it has barely stopped raining. My grain sorghum did terrible and the millet looks awesome

Mine is falling over too---loaded with green seed. Rain everyday in the 10 day forecast. I think I will give it another week and see if can miss showers for a couple of days and if I can then I will burn or bush hog half of it.
