Furthermore they’re fricking hogs, an invasive species. I wouldn’t imagine hunting a game animal like that, but hogs are basically large rats as far as I’m concerned.

doesnt matter if it's a game animal or coyote or a beaver or a crow

hog doggers keep the local neck tat artists and monster energy drink companies in business

We’ve done this for years and we never kill them. We hobble them, trailer them, breed them and then sell the piglets for 150 a pop once they are around 65 pounds. I think you have a strong opinion on a matter you know nothing about.

Frick a damn hog. They all should die. How some people choose to eradicate them does not bother me.

hog doggers aren't doing anything to decrease much less eradicate the population

they are part of the reason we have the problems we do today

not all but many just catch the hogs and let them go or cut them and release them

they dont want to eradicate them because it is a sport to them

So tell me just how you would eradicate the problem humanely. I am genuinely curious. Furthermore i may be a hog dogger, bear dogger, and coon dogger and in your eyes trashy but to lump everybody in the same boat is absurd. Are you like all deer hunters or fishermen?

if we were serious about eradication we would have to totally eliminate hunting for sport for them

that's what states that have had success with reducing pig populations have done

take away the incentive to hunt them and people no longer transport them around which is how we got here

used to be very small populations of them then they were moved around (not all by hog doggers but mainly hog doggers)

Interesting comments and opinions here. OK, I admit to being "trash" by your definition. Hmm,"..lets the dogs chew on it instead."? I didn't see the same video you did, apparently. Looks like there's a lot of "trash" that enjoy hunting hogs with bay and catch dogs. I admit to not knowing much about hunting hogs with dogs, but my limited knowledge certainly appears to be greater than yours.

Yeah, that approach has worked very, very well for the mountain lion population in California. Logic dictates, then, that we need to eliminate coyote sport hunting, too. Coyote problems solved!

wtf?

do you know people who go around catching mountain lions and release them on other properties so they can multiply so they can then catch them with dogs?

I know some of the spread has been due to “transportation” but I think that that’s a very small percentage of the spread IMO. Eradication of an animal that has multiple litters per year is gonna be nearly impossible without some sort of commercial market.
Just look at places with bounties on nutria and coyotes. Once upon a time both species were at manageable levels now they cannot be controlled with bounties.

you won't eradicate when you provide incentive like bounties or a commercial market

why would anyone go out and kill all the nutria when they can go kill a good number, get paid, and continue to get paid year after year? look at all the money spent every single year

same for pigs
you make a commercial market for them, you will never get rid of them

people will kill a few, and leave some for seed so they can continue to make money each year

Louisiana commercial fishing of the1980s proves you are wrong. Buffalo hunting in the 1800s and market hunting for ducks in 1800/1900 as well.
Not one person I know that hunts nutrias ever says “ naw don’t shoot him today we gonna leave seed”
But hey to each his own

not near the same as an invasive exotic animal that can live in almost any habitat type and can have multiple large litters a year
they are almost like a virus

a buffalo and a duck aren't anything close in comparison

there is a joke saying if you wanted a particular animal to become extinct, just tell a bunch of coonasses that its really good to eat and its illegal to kill it and they will wipe out every one of them

maybe we should say its illegal to kill pigs and nutria and they will take care of it? paying them to kill them obviously isnt getting the job done

I killed and cleaned 4 pigs last weekend we had in a pen. My buddy held them down and I stabbed them. No gun. They bled out quick.. some of you pansies are what's wrong with this country. Too damn emotional. When I was a kid dad killed hogs with a hammer.
I wish it was legal to catch and cut boars in texas. It use to be a prize when a barr hog walked out under the feeder.

this is even worse

you caught the pig, cut his nuts, then release him back to do pig things in hopes of catching him again or shooting him

he can't breed but he still tears shite up. when you catch a boar, put his arse down right then and be done with it

its reinforcing the point that hog doggers aren't looking to eradicate pigs, just doing it for sport.

kill the pigs
