At a party in college, circa 1998, a friend pulled a pistol to show it to me.
Everyone there was loaded. Instinctively, I checked to see whether it was.
It was, with one in the chamber.
That made everyone loaded.
I gave him a good talking to and told him he didn't have to leave, but the pistol did.
I can't believe no one was accidentally shot.
:csb:
Long story short, I don't ever keep one in the chamber.
Doesn't take very long to chamber one from a full magazine, etc.

Absolutely. 13 +1 in the Glock all the time.

That's not the point.
The time a semi automatic pistol will malfunction 99% of the time is when someone is manipulating the action.
I have other points too. Watch my video. It's very educational:
Carrying with an empty chamber - FAIL!

Yes.
The ready gun must be ready. As in "to fire".

Not that strong of an argument when the story revolves around a drunk college party. Kind of a no-brainer in that scenario.

Conceal/open carry?

Truck?
quote:Yep. Must be ready to rock-n-roll any second. The only modification to that is when any kids are visiting. I'll relocate the weapons, but they stay loaded.
House?

Papa always told me "boy if it ain't loaded is just a high dollar club." We always knew not to touch them as do my kids. He also said "gun don't have to respect you, but you damn sure better respect it."

In the house, yes.
Truck, no. I'm more comfortable that way.
