It is a single action...

It has a transfer bar but I KNOW it can't go off if there's nothing under the hammer to go off.

Or leave loaded weapons unlocked in their bedrooms when young kids are home.

Or drunks. I had a friend killed in college when someone pulled a Glock from under the couch cushion at a house where they were late-nighting. Drunkenly/moronically he pulled the trigger and put one into her chest.

Good point. But my answer is no.

It's my kid's friends that I don't trust. You take a 8-12 year old boy who has never seen a gun in real life (but sees them all the time on TV, movies and video games), and you're asking for trouble. And those are the good kids.

No offense, but do you really think your kids do everything you say?

Please explain the reason for this if the gun is not a single action cowboy style revolver....

ummm, pretty sure you need a double-action trigger.....

1. cock
2. release

I'm a semi-auto guy, but my basic knowledge of revolvers should do. If I am wrong, God bless my soul.

As you pull the trigger on the revolver, it should first cock the hammer and spin the cylinder over a round in the first action. The second action will actually release the hammer and fire.

That is what worries me. Mine are not accessible when I'm not home. Or when other kids are over.

Revolver with hammer on an empty chamber.

You know in modern revolvers there is a piece of steel blocker that won't allow a revolver to go off when dropped. Next time you take it out (empty) take a look at the hammer and slowly pull the trigger. You'll see the metal blocker slide down as the hammer goes back. No need to keep a empty chamber.

I see other people already touched on this subject.. a little late on my part.

There's no need for it to be. Load it when you can directly supervise it.

Unload it, lock it up, or preferably both when you cannot supervise it.

I did a whole lot of shite my old man told me to not do when I was a kid.

Exactly. "Don't" is like a challenge to a kid.

Yes I know that.

If I snag the hammer and snap it and the transfer bar fails it still can't go off if there's nothing in the chamber. No need to take that risk. It doesn't require any extra manipulation to fire, I'm just shorting myself one round which I am perfectly OK with.

Carry weapon. One in the chamber and the thumb safety on.

Self Defense revolver - Loaded and ready to go in the night stand (fingerprint safe).

Now don't get me wrong, play with guns certainly was not one of them, but I had plenty friends who were less obedient than I was.

To each its own.. My theory is if you can't put down the threat in 5 shots, 6 isn't going to be any better.

Yes.

No point in carrying if you aren't going to chamber one.
