Pinetree deer. Won't kill any giants but you may have numbers if the area is managed.

Truth.
I'm in Union Church, but same deer as Brookhaven.

Used to hunt just outside of the City Limits. There are some monsters there. It’s not just “piney woods”, there’s still plenty of hardwoods and some agriculture.

Have seen some monsters from that area.

And

It is north of McComb.

That is all I can tell you.

I hunted it for a few years with my cousin before I got access to private land. He was also a memeber of shock town hunting club so we were able to use a lot of club land to access forest. He had been hunting it for 10 years so he put me on them. During how season he would hunt feed trees near borders of pine thickets. Look for small creek bottoms on onx, you will find white oaks.

Has potential for great deer but the coonasses com up and lease 200 acres between 10 people and shoot everything that walks.
They will give up lease after 4 yrs. in year 8 deer will start to come back and then next round of coonasses start.
Rinse and repeat.

It ain't just the coonasses who kill dinks. This guy is a redneck born and raised in Franklin county. We quit hunting with him because he shot spikes and other illegal dinks constantly. He had a few buddies from up there who did the same. The locals there are just as bad as the coonasses.

He was proud as shite of that deer. We should have turned him in.

Truth. I grew up hunting there and some of my family still does. Neighbors will shoot anything that moves. That said, the deer hunting (at least on our family land) is a hell of a lot better than it was 20years ago.

I just got in a lease there this year. Beautiful Oak flats on the property and have one giant 10 point on camera. Excited to hunt this place.

Family camp 20 mins west of Brookhaven that was sold a few yrs ago. Here are a few of the better deer we saw. Lots of pressure and they go nocturnal quickly. We also had to out up with dogs and some wahoos hunting the adjacent national forest.

I'm not far from there, Rut is normally the first or second week of January. If its property that has been managed the potential is there. Gotta let them grow
