The conditions are perfect where I’m at, rut kicking in. I’ve watched close to 2 dozen over the last hour. Several nice younger bucks chasing which is very encouraging but I’m waiting for that regal stag to pop his head out.

Good luck baws

My experience tells me big boy isn't coming out if the young ones are chasing. Dies aren't ready yet.

Good luck though. I hope he does step out in front of your rifle.

Ours are getting interested up the road, but haven’t seen a serious chase yet. Hope you get a good un. Inside or outside the levee?

I was inside the levee hunting an oak flat.

S wind has picked up considerably. Saw good number this am. Changing tactics and going to hunt a stand where I can see longer distance between CRP and levee

Im currently 30 feet up in a climber at the National Forest. South wind about 12 mph.. it should come down to about 7-8 during prime time. Acorn bottom just south of me. I hunted this morning at my other stand on the other side of the ridge.

Our deer have frickin disappeared. Don’t know what the heck is going on. It’s like our deer all took vacation or something. Even the does and fawns aren’t moving.

Im hunting public land. In the month of November I saw 16 while hunting. Not once but twice did the big one got by my without getting a shot. Last weekend was the first weekend I saw deer in December in 5 years. I saw 2 does Saturday evening the next morning I had 3 does within 15 feet of me then again I saw a nice buck at about 150 yards just got a glimpse of him. I thought for sure he would follow them does but he didn’t. I know he crossed their path.

I still think we’re 4 or 5 days away before things get really hot and heavy and the mature deer will start chasing.

4 Leaf, are your CRP trees producing acorns yet? Any idea how long it should take them to produce in NE La?

Back at it again this afternoon 30 feet up a big pine in my tree walker climbing stand. Yesterday evening all I saw was a big boar. What’s strange is that it was running when I saw it and made a 150 yard circle around me twice. Just never seen one act like that.

What forest you hunting? Thinking about going to Davy Crockett next weekend if I haven’t tagged out.

This is my second day in a row in Claiborne parish. I haven’t see a deer yet.

Did see a gobbler and a couple armadillos.
