Saw a 160 kid ski behind a 12 foot aluminium boat with a 5 hp Mercury outboard. He had to use both skis, but my brother pulled him around the lake for 10-12 minutes.

Was out of south pass beyond the mud lumps in 30 feet of water and see a huge splash. A group of 4-5 manta rays each 10’ wide jumping 8 feet out the water. We pull up and one is under us. Wider then the boat. We were in awe.

I was fishing for trout on a lake in Canada and suddenly the line goes down like it's a huge fish and I start reeling. As it get up to the shore I realize it's a loon.

We get a net over it and work the hook out of it's mouth and off it swims letting out it's call. From around the point swims up it's mate and they coo back and forth and then swim back around the point.

I was driving home from work one night and an owl flew right into my windshield outta nowhere. He must of thought my truck was a big arse field rat or something. Cracked the top right of the windshield real bad. Scared the absolute shite out of me.

Always been reluctant to tell this story as there are no pics. Me, Papa eagle ND my little bro were in better one day and had 2 of the weirdest this ever happened in the same trip. I caught a small bass and by the time I got him to the boat he had a snake wrapped around him trying to eat him. A little while later we saw a weird disturbance crossing in front of us. Pulled up to it, and it's a 2-headed cottonmouth fighting over a catfish. Damnedest day ever.

Another time... I was a kid riding with my dad at night. I can't recall what the temperture contrast was that cause them to do it, but it had rained and the rural interstate highway was covered with night crawlers. Enough to make the road slick.

The old man pulls over and scoops up enough to half fill a throwaway styrofoam cooler and we go on our merry way.

Headed hunting in Natchez 30 years ago with a buddy , about 2AM near homochitto forest had to pee. Not a car have I passed in an hour so pretty much stopped in the road. Above us was a huge ufo barely making a sound but the wind off of it was enough to make us notice it.
Huge. Right above trees. You could see the bottom of it clearly and it was just easing along about double tree top high.

Couple years ago my cousin and law and me took our sons to grand isle. We stayed at bridgeside and went fishing at night around the slips and piers. There were small flounder cruising the top of the water and the boys were able to scoop a dozen or more 10 to 14” or so of them with a dip net.

Probably the water spout that passed just on the other side of Hwy 1 from where I was at during the Paddlepalooza kayak fishing tournament a few months ago

I have been on an abandon shell oil field road in S Louisiana surrounded by a cypress/gum swamp and have. Seen a congregation of 30-40 Arredondo owls. Just thought it was an owl thing.

Not on the water, but after coming back from Houma on a seldom used tar road must’ve been thousands of devils horse - large grasshoppers.
I stopped and turn around- no way was I driving through that mess.

The only cryptic thing I have ever seen was up in Wisconsin. Driving back from a golf tournament I saw fox cross the road that was as tall as a 2 year old fawn.

These threads are the best. I feel like I’m at the camp sitting around talking to all the old guys who have been out in the outdoors three times as much as I have

I was hunting along an old 4 wheeler trail with thick undergrowth on each side. I hunted there often and had taken a couple bucks crossing it before. There were pre-rut scrapes and a rain the night before so I was hoping to see one cruising early to freshing the scrapes up. Low and behold soon after day break I get ready as I hear some crashing around in the undergrowth and what comes out next... An Ostrich! A mother fricking Ostrich! I ended up letting it go obviously not knowing what to do but in hindsight I hear they eat pretty tasty and maybe I lost out on that chance How it got there I have no idea besides getting lose from someones pin

Years ago we were tuna fishing with Brett Falderman. On our way out we were watching a water spout about 2 miles away. All of a sudden our lines start swirling, Brett hollers some profanities and guns the boat. We had a waterspout coming down on us. It got the juices flowing for sure.
