Thinking of taking the wife and kids to Pointe aux Chene this weekend to do a little crabbing with drop nets. This will be our first trip this year. Is the crabbing any good yet?

Friend of mine went crabbing in PAC last Friday. Ran his nets three times. Caught one crab. Came home empty. This is a different week and you won’t know what you will catch unless you go.

Went to Joseph’s harbor Saturday It was bumping with people. Did pretty well from the bank and then went to the weirs and caught fairly well. Tide was starting to come in as we were leaving around 2 and I am sure they turned on. They have really fixed the place up. The weirs are really nice now. They have places to tie up your boat Game wardens came and checked everyone.

FYI It’s a little different than elsewhere for crabbing in rockafeller. If you are only crabbing you have to have either a fishing license, hunting license, or wild Louisiana stamp if fishing you obviously need a fishing license.

And I mentioned this in another thread but do not for the love of god forget your bug repellent of choice. They were terrible Saturday morning

Are all the main weirs open? Concrete, LSU, Mud hole? Did they finish that pier at mud hole? Last year it was a frickin mess back there.

Yes they are running in spots. Had a buddy went last week in PAC and did well, but I don't know where he went. Another went to St Bernard parish and they caught some number ones mixed with mediums and most were fat actually. Just go and have fun

You and the other 80 boats are thinking the same thing. PAC used to be a great place to crab, but now there are so many people overfishing that area on the weekends that you'll be lucky to get enough for a boil.

Fellas, was considering going try my luck at Rockafella Thursday after da front comes through. How low does the water get out there after a N wind front? Worth going check it out?
