Anybody submitted their application lately? How long did it take to get processed? Got my fingerprints today, just got to get the picture and I'm ready to mail it in.

There is a thread on bayou shooter about wait times for conceal carry applications. I did my fingerprints in baton Rouge at the police barracks. Took less then 2 weeks for it to come in.

Just turned mine in last Friday. Will post up when it comes in. Did the digital fingerprints, so hopefully everything will go smoothly.

It took them about 90 days to tell me that they had rejected my fingerprints and another month or so after I resubmitted them. It's important to submit everything as quickly as you can, but a long wait afterwards.

Don't know in LA, but in Arkansas if you do the application on-line it cuts the wait time a lot. Got mine in 3 weeks after turning in certificate, including having to do prints 3 times

Like someone mentioned, just fill out your paperwork and drive to state police headquarters in baton rouge. Had a buddy do it and he received his permit in the mail within two weeks. I mailed mine the same day he went and it took mine 6 weeks to come in .

Sounds like it's improved from spring '11 when I submitted mine. Using digital prints, still took 12 weeks from time I submitted the packet.

$7.50 at the police department, walk out with card in hand. The next year they mail you a card to send back in with the money so you can just have it mailed to you before your current expires. Gotta love alabama

Mine took two months.
Just forget about it as someone suggested. You could be waiting for a long time.

If your prints are done in BR on the digital scanner at LSP HQ, they won't be rejected. Period.
And they'll be submitted electronically for your criminal background check.
And they will review your application, while you stand there, to make sure you didn't skip anything on the app.
My secretary got hers in 8 business days. I got my renewal in 11 business days. Lots of folks on Bayou Shooter report getting theirs in 2-3 weeks.
To get yours approved promptly (if you live within a reasonable distance of BR), get your application packet ready (forms notarized, photo, etc), and carry that packet with you when you go to LSP to get printed. After your prints have been run, walk about 20 feet down the hall and tell them you want to submit your application. Someone from the Concealed Handgun Permit Unit will walk down and look over your forms.
If you live in the Frozen Nawth (Shreveport, Monroe, et al), I don't know what to say except try to find a local agency that has a digital scanner. (We were told by LSP a year ago that approximately 40% of the "ink & roll" prints get rejected.)
Hope this helps.

I got my prints done by a digital scanner and on a hard copy by an ATF agent that does the fingerprint stuff all of the time for CCW. Also got him to sign my photo. The damn gubment already has my prints and DNA on file too.
Called up the other day to get it all finished up and the woman in the phone told me that I would have to do both over again at LSP headquarters. PITA
