You've got some tolerant deer. You'd never even see one in my neck of the woods if you did that.

I've done it in the LP, not many places have deer as skittish as the LP.

deer smell human, they leave.

Be it spit, piss, puke, bo, cologne, gas, aftershave, Axe body spray, smoke...I never understood why folks care about one but not the others.

The ones in and around Davey Crockett National Forest (North of Houston) are like giant dobermans strung out on methamphetimines. There's plenty of 'em, but it's certainly a challenge to get one.

I would get someone out there to investigate the herd before I made a rule about does must be shot. It differs. Who knows what the people leasing there did prior to y'all taking over. It may take some time to get right, but it's possible given the location. I would assign members bunks, preferably snorers and non snorers. Also I would designate a camp cook and let him skip work days or plot/feed fees. Definately a map with stand names and member tags. Name the stands if you haven't already(easier for reference points). Designated fire pit/ beer drinking area. The rest will come as you figure the land out. With 1100 acres, you will have to drive to some stands, so maybe a designated place to park bikes.
Try and find out what surrounding clubs shoot and if it sounds like they are working on managing, maybe follow suit( 8 point or better, etc)
Eta: these are Just suggestions, there is really no right or wrong rules except pick up after your fricking self and respect other people's property.

We hunt in Amite County, Ms. Right next to a national forest and it is relatively lightly hunted.

Wish the NWR that borders my land was lightly hunted.

was going to bow hunt out of a stand that I'd previously had good luck out of. Another dude on the lease (who wasn't man enough to swallow his Copenhagen) had spit all over the damn place a day or so before. Hell, even I could smell it...think of a sensitive deer nose. fricked up my bow hunting.

That's dumb. I've whacked a shitload of deer while enjoying a pinch of snuff.

No problem boss.
It is usually a tough decision, especially with family, but someone generally needs to kindof lead the way. By lead, I don't mean some shortdicked power hungry assclown that takes the title of president to his head, rather someone to collect, stay on top of shite, etc.
Good luck man, it can get hairy at first, but should settle down after time.

I can't remember one I've shot that I wasn't dipping. I think it's silly to assume that deer are THAT skiddish, but perhaps. One thing I know will get their attention for sure is human scent, other than that, not much.

If its family, just set an antler minimum to keep big bucks on the place and maybe a stand board and the rest should be common sense. Do you really need a list of rules for 6-8 family members? If you guys can't get along well enough without 15 rules you probably don't need to be hunting together.

Another must do is a kill log, which you probably had in mind, just making sure. Record date, time and stand. Makes for good records and easier to pattern deer, feeding tendencies and rut.
Also , poster board with tacks for Pics of kills and good times had.

I was amazed the first time that I passed by a WMA in LA compared to the NWR we have beside us in MS. I had never seen anything like that. Its a great way to be spoiled.

We kill deer. Just can't really manage because if we don't kill it they will. When I want to kill big deer, I go to my cousins camp in fort Adams, ms. I'd join that club in a heart beat if I had the means.

I am wanting to join a club in Woodville but I cannot bring myself to do it. We kill all the deer we want and get a couple nice ones each year. I would love to be guaranteed that trophy buck twice a year but cant bring myself to pay those prices.

They kill shite on cat island? I've actually never made it out there.
