I have a 4x8. Can't see the damn thing until it's almost perpendicular to the truck. I can't even lower the tailgate to see it, because I have a tall toolbox that you can't see over

Great. Thanks to you I've gone down a YouTube black hole of "Boat Launch Fail" videos.

Mine has that trailer jack mounted in the center of the frame of the trailer. Just perfect to catch the end of my tailgate. Cant even get an icechest out the back without taking the trailer off, so now I pack it all on the trailer.

I swear that I am going to remove it every year and get one of those flip up ones you mount on the side.

I don't mind the people that can't back down the ramp. They are at least trying to learn. It's the assholes that think they own the ramp that bother me. The one that pulls up and starts to back down, stops to unload, unstrap, and put the plug in. Then finally decides to launch the boat. Leaves it tied up against dock but not far enough in where it's basically blocking the launch on that side.

someone with a big nice F250 and a 24 foot boat goes right in the middle where no one can go down the left or right and takes too long.

If you can't launch your boat or back a trailer using only your side mirrors, you need more practice.

The other incident was when I was launching solo, and forgot to tie the boat to the trailer or the truck. Got balls deep in the water before I caught it. Luckily there was no one there for the second incident

I did this pretty recently. I usually leave the strap hooked when backing down the ramp solo. I just put a little slack in it. Well, I did that. But I didn't realize that the hook latch had stuck open. So when backing down, the ramp was a little bumpy and the hook must've jumped off the bow eye. Boat went floating away. Luckily there was another boater there to give me a ride to it. I was a little embarrassed. But, shite happens.

I've since lubed the latch on the hook. It doesn't stick anymore and I check it every time now.

Was at Fred’s a few weeks ago and watched a guy back down his pontoon, get out, start unloading a fricking bbq grill, noodles, rafts, ice chests, etc while on the ramp. Then he proceeded to get in his boat and give a little throttle before he realized he was still winched to his trailer. THEN, he took 5 minutes to tie off before he got back in his truck and drove off. It was probably a 15 minute ordeal with 5 or 6 people waiting to launch.

You say anything? I would.

Politely yet condescending.

Like....sweet bro, the rest of us will just wait while you load up your boat on the ramp.

My girlfriend literally does not take a step out of the vehicle until I have the boat completely in the water and ready to go. It is kind of frustrating

Yeah....no.

I've had plenty of women with me. I get em out with the bow rope and tell em don't let the boat touch the dock. Hold it and I'll be right back.

Mine holds the rope when I launch it, and pulls it off to the side while I park the truck. At least its something.

That's enough to be considered a team player. If I do all the work I might as well go alone. I'm faster alone than most people are with 2 people.

Backing up my little trailer that carries the 4 wheeler is a PITA.

regarding the other videos in the link, how do people sink their vehicles while launching? Are they all so stupid they don't put the vehicle in park? Or is it a mechanical error on the vehicle?

There were some real gems on the boat launch fail video.

Only incidents I've had were when my girl bent down between the trailer and truck to pick something up, and I bumped her with the truck. Scared the shite outta me when I heard her yell.

This is what mine does. When it's windy though, she'll raise hell about how hard it is to hold the boat. She lost a flip flop over the dock one time and I still haven't heard the end of that.

1. I have to see my bunks to know how far in the water the trailer is. Can't do that without tailgate down.

2. Using mirrors is inferior.

3. I can out back anyone that posts here. Really, anyone in the world.

4. Anyone that agrees with you is super ignorant.
