Had the Coast Guard searching around Lena's Lagoo today. Anyone heard anything about it?

Damn, not good.

I assume the strong winds are to blame.

I heard about that accident. They were in a pirogue when it occurred. The pirogue was about to flip and the gun discharged is what ive been told by someone that knew the victim.

Terrible to hear.

Loaded shotgun in a pirogue with two people. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Not to be an arse but these two things really SHOULD have nothing to do with each other.

Someone had to do something pretty dumb to mix them together.

No doubt about that. I was merely relaying the story I was told.

My opinion is, if the pirogue was flipping he grabbed the gun to not lose it and somehow grabbed the trigger.

Little gun safety (unload it) and $50 (floating case) negates this helo ride.

Don Dubuc had a series the other day about CG running training missions, search and rescue all over that area.

As might be expected, "facts" on the internet won't always paint the whole picture. While it's not my place to lay things out on a public forum, I'll just say these guys are experienced hunters and the last guys in the world I'd ever think an accident like this could happen to. Please keep everyone involved, particularly the patient and his family, in your thoughts and prayers. They are wonderful people.
