Curious if there are any places within about 30 minutes of BR where the bass fishing is decent.

In normal times, 30 minutes won't get out out of the city limits.

Henderson/Ramah can be really good, about 30 minutes from Miss River Bridge.
Bayou Sorrel, Jack Millers area.
False River
Blind River/Amite River, Tickfaw
All of these places have there moments to shine except Blind/ Amite area. Numbers can be ok but size is lacking

That used to be one of the premier bass lakes in the country and was usually rocking on Saturdays. My friend used to have access to a pier on the lake; we used to catch fish by the barrel full. I've heard it's all but dead these days, just an over-sized City Park Lake. Perhaps one day it can return to its former glory.

What was so significant about the 90’s that produced such big fish? All top 20 were caught in that 9 year period of ‘92 to ‘01. It’s strange that a 14+ pounder hasn’t been caught since ‘01.

ETA: I’m guessing since most came from Caney Lake, something must have changed there after the turn of the century.

Catch and release smh. A lot of the fisheries aren't being properly culled.
