Most expensive spinner baits you got.

They gotta eat some sort of dead bait. But I don't ever remember catching one on worms.

Texas rig shallow. They like to lay next the floating logs shallow.

Shrimp or crawfish under a cork with a 20 foot cane pole.

Dankiest lookkng shallow water. Big (expensive is usually the key) spinnerbait. Texas rig worm or worm no weight.

Or just go bass fishing

we used to catch them all the time. fish them like red fish.

put market shrimp on a 2/0 hook about 8" below a cork and a pinch weight half way down from the cork and if they are there you will catch them.

use heavy line because they will drag up half the hydrilla in the whole canal by the time you boat them

Honest question, has anyone without a 5 gallon bucket and cane pole ever eaten one? I used to fish Pier 90 a lot as a kid. When we caught them we just gave them to the cane pole fishers. They had buckets full of them, but I’ve never eaten them.

Ultravibe speed craws. Find sloughs and cast where there is 3” of water and the water looks like it would kill someone if you drink it

I would trade an ice chest full of sacalait for choupique. It's my favorite fish. That's how much I enjoy it and I love eating sacalait.

As for catching we used to go specifically for choupique. Shrimp or shad under a cork in a shallow bayou covered in duck weed. About 7 of us would spend the day and catch about 6-10 of them and we have a big supper that night. Great times and excellent food.

Ahhhhhh, bowfin. We call them mudfish in FL. Many a time, I've caught them fishing for bass. Fight like a MFer and destroy baits. Biggest I've caught is about 10lbs and it absolutely destroy a brand new live target hollow frog. Thought I had a double digit bass at first. Nasty fish that should be eradicated like pit bulls.
