What are you using this for? Conceal carry? Open carry? Hammer or hammer less?
Caliber?

If for home protection and range fun: Ruger SP101 .38/.357 with 3-4" barrel.

For concealed carry: Smith and Wesson 642 .38 snubbie

On a budget: Taurus revolver in similar dimensions as above

Revolver for concealed carry?

Smith & Wesson 642 in .38 special +P is the gold standard.

I have a Ruger SP101 .357 mag. Don't even bother taking it to the range. You'll have degenerative arthritis after 10 bullets.

I carry a Stinger Pengun. For signing contracts or hostile takeovers... their choice.

Smith M66 4” if you’re willing to dress round it

Ruger LCR if you aren’t willing to dress around it.

With that said, ruger just started making a 7 shot GP100 and if you’re willing to work around the gun than that’s probably the best deal going for a CC revolver.

If you’re not willing to dress around the gun than you really need a single stack 9mm. There’s no sense in restricting yourself to 5 rounds of high powered shite in a gun that will be very difficult to shoot.
