Buying a new or second hand truck

So I am in the market. Just started looking and damn these prices are crazy. Last time I bought a vehicle was 14 years ago.
RAM, Tundra, and Silverado are the 3 brands I am looking at.
RAM- I like the Rebel a lot. I also like the 2500. How is the MPG on the 6.7 inline 6.
I know the Tundra is a solid truck, just has shitty MPG.
Anyone have a newer GM with the Ecotech V8? I'm not sold on the engine. I have a 5.3 V8 in my current truck that has been solid.

Ecotech is an ls. The entire world is sold on the LS V8. I think that science is settled.
Tundra has been the same truck for what, 20 years?
The 6.7 gets 20 on the hwy driving really easy. 15 in town.

I have a 2020 Sierra AT4 with the 5.3; IF you tow I highly recommend this truck (I'm a GMC fan so there's that); at the very least take one for a test drive. This truck loves to tow; I tow a Nitro Z-18 with ease.

Hyperbolic statement is hyperbolic.

The 5.3 GM running gear will go over 300k with a minimum of regular maintenance. I am in the market for a full size 9 seat SUV and the 1/2 ton GMs and Ford both have amazing numbers on Car Gurus and other sites with 250K and more on them. I had a 97 Tahoe that had nearly 385K on it when I sold it and the young guy I sold it to is still driving it with nothing major done in another 18 months of commuting.
They changed the 5.3 in 2007 and those trucks will use some oil (although they will still go 300K +) but apparently GM corrected that problem in 2008. The 2007 can be tinkered with to eliminate the cylinder drop and eliminate the oil burn but apparently they lose a mile or so of MPG. I personally don't mind a truck using a quart of oil between oil changes....most of my vehicles will eventually do it anyway LOL because I keep one forever.
Another beautiful thing about the 5.3 is that when it does go kaput you can buy a factory crate engine for about $2500 and for $3500 have a practically brand new truck. Theyre are a BUNNNNNCHHHHH of 5.3 GM trucks sold in the US every year....thus parts are readily available and cheap...and the trucks are a mechanical dream to work on if you do work yourself...
All of them I ever had got around 14 all the time. All 4WDs....in SUVs and Trucks....nut I watch the tach when I drive with no regard to the speedometer....so I am that bastard most of you try to pass when turning left and on the interstate on ramp....y'all go ahead....my truck will still be going at 350K + while y'alls is deader than hell at 200K cause you had to floor it at every opportunity.....I also very seldom have anything slide forward when braking....I can nurse a set of brake pads in a 1/2 ton truck that tows a boat and a utility trailer pretty regularly to 100K cause I simply lift my foot off the accelerator when I know I am going to slow down or stop....much easier to stop a 6000 pound truck from 30 MPH than it is from 45......

I like the AT4 but the price on those are significantly higher than the Trail Boss. And they have the same engine.
I have an 06 Sierra so I have no issues with GMC.

I suppose it depends on options and TBH I don't know a lot about the Trail Boss. What prices are you seeing? I got into my AT for almost the exact same money as I got into my 2015 Crew Cab SLT and the AT has more options. The X31 suspension, 10 speed tranny and Pro Trailering Package are legit.

I got my AT4 for $49 and the only options it doesn't have is a sunroof (don't want) and Adaptive Cruise Control which I'd probably never use....regular cruise when not towing all the time

y'alls is deader than hell at 200K cause you had to floor it at every opportunity.
I hit 6500 rpm at least 6 or 7 times a day. When I hit the blacktop leaving for work. When I merge onto I10, and when I take off from the light when I exit.
207000 miles, just changed all hoses and valve cover gaskets. Engine specs as new

I drive a diesel but my wife’s 6.2 in her Denali sees 6000 many times, every time I drive it. It’s too fun not to do.

I really like my 2019 1500 Sierra SLT 2wd. Paid 34k for it.
Honestly I like all of the trucks but each one seemed to eliminate themselves for various reason and I just started liking the GMC the best. Ford has that feature where the engine stops running when you stop, that’s annoying. Their trim packages have too much technology that I didn’t want. Tundras gas mileage sucks. Rams truck body look off to me.

I have the new sierra with the 5.3, it's a phenomenal truck! I've tracked mileage for my first 10k miles: 20mpg average!!!!

2002 Tahoe 2wd, 5.3 hitting 290,000 miles and regularly pulls a boat. I put it to the floor way too much and it seems to like it. For a big suv it will get up and go. I probably need to ease up on her a little bit, but when it blows I’ll pick up another used 5.3 for $600 and drop it in one afternoon.

All vehicles have this now I believe; my 2020 AT4 has it and you're right it's annoying but there's a button that turns it off.

I did find a nice Ram 2500 Longhorn with 60k miles on it for 40k in Nola. Has the 6.7.
