For those of you who have a mid-upper level Bushnell riflescopes (not an entry level that comes on a combo), what are your impressions of it.

I know enough about comparable Nikon, Vortex, and Leupold in that $300-$500 price range so not really looking for, "Just get a ______ and be done with it." unless there is direct comparison with one that you own, because I probably will end up with one of those 3 brands. I rarely hear anyone say anything about Bushnell at all so it's mainly out of curiosity.

Im a huge fan of their LRHSi and LRTSi scopes. Those LRHSi's are long range hunting scope perfection IMHO. They track 100% reliably and their glass is on par with scopes that are a lot more expensive. Bushnell makes great scopes if you stay away from their combos and blister packaged scopes. I'll take the two I mentioned over any of the other brands you mentioned thats anywhere remotely close to their price range

Ive had probably 6 or so of the Bushnell Elite scopes(2 or 3 hdmrs, 2 or 3 4200s, a lrhsi, a smrs).

Bang for the buck is bushnells game. The elite scopes are packed with features found on higher end scopes.

The only negative to their scopes is weight. The hdmr or dmr is a pig.

If anyone is lookig for a great scope camerland has the lrts in fde for $649.

ETA: I shot those hdmrs out to 1200 or more several times, they always tracked perfectly.

I've got a Bushnell Elite 6500 on a rifle (came with it) and it appears to be decent. I'd like to change the reticle but Bushnell won't do it. Overall it appears to be decent but will be replaced with a Leupold in the future.

6500 is a great scope. Ya, bushnell wont change reticles, but it seems a lot of companies have gotten away from changing them.

I've got a couple of Bushnell Scopes, one is a cheap scout scope on my 30-30 but it's decent. Looking back now I wish I would've spent the extra $50 on a Vortex.

The other is a more expensive one. (no idea on the model) that I got on sale. It's on my 6.5 Grendel AR. Very clear glass, big objectives, lets in a lot of light and tracks well.

Interesting, I appreciate the responses.

It looks like they've changed the names on some of the scopes. I'm looking for a slim profile, mostly bare bones scope so the exposed tactical/long range turrets is not something I'm looking at. Weight isn't really an issue, I don't think I'll be packing this gun all over the backcountry, but after looking closer at some of the options I don't see a reticle that I like as much as the the Nikon BDC, which might be all it comes down to.

The Nitro series has what appears to be a really good sale going on right now

Be mindful that there are some good Nikon scopes out there, but the warranty is not what it use to be. Nikon is getting out of the scope business. Keep watching, you'll find a good deal. You just missed some good Vortex Viper deals.

Also, does it matter if you are 1" or 30 mm?

Keep in mind that BDC reticle might not be accurate for your caliber/round. Those BDC reticles are set for a specific bullet at a specific speed.

Id probably never buy a factory bdc scope.

If you want to do something like that, find a round that shoots good and have a custom turret made by [link=(Kenton Ind)]LINK[/link].

While that is true on some of their scopes, that's not always the case. If you buy one of their scopes with BDC reticle, you can use their SpotOn app or website to input your specific caliber and bullet. The app will then generated the yardages for the BDC. It actually works pretty good too.

I'm not looking for recommendations, warranty isn't something I'm concerned with either, strictly curious about people's experience with Bushnell.

I've got a Zeiss and a Meopta, also a Simmons and some other brand I'd have to go look at to tell you what it is. They all do the same same thing. I want something I don't feel bad about banging up against a tree in a climber, or scratching up in a cutover, and won't cause me anxiety if break it and I have to replace it.

The only thing I'm looking for out of a BDC is a reference point to know where to hold if a hog or something steps out at 300+ on a pipeline/powerline

Like i said earlier, bare bones hunting gun, not a target gun

I got you, they make replacement turrets for bare bones hunting scopes. Input your info and they make a replacement knob, turn it to 3 and boom.

Im with you, just throwing out options to make sure you hit what you want.

While I appreciate the input, those turrets stick out like the tactical turrets, which takes away from what I'm trying to get out of this with "slim line/lowprofile" and maybe I'm just too much of a dummy, but I'm not crazy about moving a crosshair during a hunt and remembering to move it back

No, they replace the existing turret. Kenton just makes an exact replacement. You just pop the factory one off and the new one is exactly the same, just marked to match your ammo. Your caps and everything are the same.

Here is an example of one for a vortex:

I have various nikons and leupolds. I got a budget 6.5 creed last yr and wanted a 16 power scope. I did research and ended up with bushnell droptine.. ive used it a year and half now, and zero complaints

I had a bushnell elite on a 35 Whelen. Hated the rifle, loved the scope. I’m a leupold man but that elite was a very good scope for the price. Wish I still had it

You are not alone. I don't want anything more complicated than it needs to be. Nothing sticking out. All I want is a simple duplex crosshairs, preferably heavy. I don't want anything that needs batteries (unless I was night hunting pigs, but I'm not). And you couldn't pay me to move my scope during a hunt, or any time when I can't shoot a target and prove it's hitting where I want it to.
