I tried getting in touch with essential arms several times but was never able to make an order. The one time I got someone on the phone they were preparing for the flood that never happened Ended up just getting the CMMG at my local gun shop. I really wanted a lower made in LA though.

I have heard nothing but positive things about essential arms lowers. What kind of upper are you looking to get?

Yeah if I get into NFA weapons my first purchase will be a can. Watching Sons of Guns really makes me want a suppressor.

They are not cheep, $800 for the can and 200-300 for the stamp with a 6 month wait.

Cost as much as the damn gun. There are much cheaper ways to make one but unfortunately the ATF frowns upon things like that

This is a overview and the steps needed to own a suppressor. Gross Misdemeanor could carry a sentence of up to a year in jail, and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

What is the process to purchase a suppressor?

Step 1: Decide which suppressor you would like to purchase and contact a dealer in your area.

Step 2: The dealer will order the suppressor from Gemtech (unless they already have it in stock). Gemtech must complete some transfer paperwork with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATFE) to receive permission to transfer the suppressor to your dealer. This process usually takes about 4-5 weeks, but can take longer in some cases.

Step 3: Once the dealer receives the suppressor, or if it is already in stock, you can then begin the registration and transfer process from the dealer to you. You will need to complete the following:

1. BATFE Form 5320.4 ("Form 4") in duplicate

a) Also requires that two passport sized, color photographs be affixed.

b) For individuals, this form must be signed by your local Sheriff of Police Chief.

2. BATFE Form 5330.20 ("Citizenship Certification") in duplicate

3. FBI Fingerprint cards in duplicate

4. If you are purchasing as a Corporation, LLC, or Trust, include copies of your articles of incorporation or trust paperwork.

Step 4: Once the paperwork is completed, it is mailed to the BATFE address listed on the front of the Form 4, along with a check for $200. We recommend using a check and not a money order so that you can see when the check is cashed and start the clock ticking on your transfer.

Step 5: Wait... The BATFE background check and transfer process will take about 90 days to complete. It seems like a really long time. But it will be well worth it once you are quietly shooting at the range or in your backyard (where legal).
