Can anyone recommend a hole saw online or at Home Depot/Lowes that can cut a 1.5 inch hole in a brick? I want to run wiring for low voltage lights through PVC and through my exterior wall in the garage.

I need a recommendation of something that will cut through the brick. I have the hammer drill, just struggling to find a hole saw to cut the brick.

Update.

I tried the Spider Carbide Tip from Lowes. Total Garbage, the tiny carbide tip lasted no more than 20 seconds.

I returned it and the guy in the tool department, said hands down the best thing is the diamond ones. He said just use a normal drill, slower speed and lubricate the hole with water.
Right tool, good information and now the 1.5 hole is done and I have a piece of PVC through my garage wall for my low voltage lighting.

Thanks all for the input.

I’ve used a regular wood/metal saw before but it was 1”. If the price is crazy different between the diamond saw and the regular get 2 regulars you’ll definitely make it through.

ETA the bit is trash when you’re done.

I have the Milwaukee bi metal and I think the bit might be the problem.

It is barely doing anything. I will try a new bit

Diamond hole saw should work as long as it’s deep enough to get through the brick

Bosch Dare Devil hole saws. I've cut multiple holes thru 18' of old brick easily. Hard brick takes time, but it'll do it. I will usually be cutting 4" holes too. It laughs at Hardie, try it, blue in color.
Good luck.

Spyder carbide holesaws will, lot of dust though. Diamond holesaws work ok in brick but you have to keep them flushed with water. Frankly it's a job better left to an SDS coring bit but the Spyder holesaw is pretty close, it's also a good system if you decide to get a kit later. I've put up my Milwaukee bi-metal holesaws for anything except metal, the Spyders get though wood, plastic, cultured marble, etc. so much faster.

Get a diamond hole saw, doesn't matter where. You can usually get them at aquarium stores if you need one locally, a specialty fish store, not a big box type place. If they sell saltwater fish, they probably have diamond hole saws from 1/2" through 1.5" at least.

Why is this? Aquarium people cut holes in walls a lot?

Op I would think you could just get smaller bits and cut a bunch of holes and then chisel them out. 1.5” is a big bit for brick.

Hammer drill 1 in bit and just work it some to get you that extra 1/2 or just use 1 in conduit
