I mean I understand where he's coming from, but this is a little different than taking from the tax payers. BP fricked up a summer of fishing that I'll never get back.

BP agreed to the payment scheme because they thought some executives may face jail time which would have caused the EU countries to open up a bunch of investigations into them, like the North Sea Rig disaster where they killed a whole crew. Any lawyer on here will tell you people will agree to anything to stay out of jail. They spent 2 whole days in front of Judge Barbie saying they understood and agreed to everything. They day the realized only a few low level engineers were going to jail they back tracked on everything.

Why don't you as an individual break the terms of your probation and see what happens. Why don't you as an individual agree to a deal with a contract then six months later say frick it, and appeal to the 5th circuit and see what happens. But then again I bet you are not one of Obama's biggest campaign contributors, or hosting judges at lavish resorts during your trial I bet.

There are rules for people and then rules for corporations and the super rich. No where do they cross.

I have skipped through this thread and want to say call me a POS cause I would take money from an oil company even if I didn't "deserve" a dime. Screw an oil company. You don't think they have been making money off of you hand over fist? You don't think oil companies have used that money to keep out cleaner, cheaper power? Open your eyes.

We didn't really get paid, but I don't blame anyone with a camp that was near affected waters for taking It.

You bought into good fishing and Bp fricked that up. It's not like an act of nature, it was 100% due to BP.

Let them pay.

Well said. I'll quit typing here...or I'd likely be disbarred.

The neighborhood left with this thread a few pages back.

"Here's this company that's been taking advantage of me forever. I'm making a statement by continuing to let them take advantage of me by giving me money."

I don't think you're some TPOS for taking the money per se. I said I wouldn't do it, but by all means do what you do. Just do it for some other reason than that, because that logic is terrible.

You essentially just said screw the big bad oil company, but it's kewl they're a big bad oil company if they give me money.

Not kewl, Kyle.

No they are a big bad oil company that screwed up the coast and if I qualify for the money you're offering, I'll take it.

Where do I sign up for free $$?

Yay for free money!

Can I only have $3000? How can I get more? I want to squeeze out every penny possible.

I missed 2 company paid fishing trips that year. By my calculations, I'm owed about 10K.

If anybody doesn't want this free money, just mail it to me.
Then you can feel good about yourself for not taking it and I can have more $. It's a win-win.

Not really sure how the 3g mark got thrown in there. They said it could be from 0 to 20's of thousands depending on who, what, when, where, why, etc...

Good idea. Just claim the $3k and send it to me. I'll be sure to put it into the Louisiana hunting and fishing economy.

I wish we could all meet somewhere and talk about all this stuff face to face instead of jumping back and fourth between threads.

Hey, I have a few extra bucks. I'll buy the beer.
