And as I understand it, freely. No one sued for this.

“Those who qualify for a claim against BP are: people who had a recreational fishing license who were denied the right to fish for food,” said Bob Jones, a lawyer with Porter Malouf Law Firm in Alabama. At this point, lawyers from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are collecting signatures. “We hope they’ll pay it out of that $20 billion compensation fund, but if not – it will be in court and a jury will decide,” said Jones.

Is that current or pre-settlement?

If the same property owner usually rented the camp out and lost revenue due to the spill, he would have a valid claim. Why would a claim from the property owner be unjustified just because he lost use of his own property?
Same with the boat owner. If I lost rental revenue on a boat, it would be a valid claim: why not loss of use on a personal boat?
How is loss of area to fish loss of use of the boat? Even then, how does that equate to monetary compensation?

Is that current or pre-settlement?
quote:
“Those who fish or hunt solely for pleasure or sport are not eligible to make claims for subsistence, regardless of whether or not they consume their catch,” reads the settlement.
Case law associated with previous oil spill settlements suggests that only fishermen whose annual income is near the poverty line or Native Americans in coastal tribes will qualify, said Steve Mullins, a Mississippi attorney and the former head of the Mississippi chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association.
“Think of it this way: the guy that sells you the bait, he’s covered. The guy that sells you fuel, he’s covered. The tackle guy is covered. The state that sold you the license is covered. The fishing guides are covered. The charter boat guys are covered. The rod and reel repair guy is covered. Everybody in this process is covered but the recreational fisherman,” Mullins said.

I looked into it. Couldn't find anything in the settlement supporting recreational fishermen claims.
Can you link the article that talked about paying rec fishermen?
Obviously, any payment structure set up prior to the settlement (ie, GCCF) is null once the settlement is signed and the settlement program is set up.

Ok then, I fish every weekend too. Am I OK in your book now?
Fishing every weekend does not make taking advantage of a tragedy acceptable.
What I don't understand is why you can't just be man, call it what it is, and be honest. At least then you won't look like a turd for trying to justify applying for free shite. Although I still think you deserve an open hand slap for using your friends alleged dead brother as part of your argument for why you should get money.
You want the money because you can get it, not because you were affected personally or financially.
