All that bad stuff they said about halogens above plus....they're friggin hot. You'll never burn your arm bumping up against an LED.

I'll be merging some different designs I've seen on the net. I'm thinking I'll be going with a G3 1860 CCT. Build a raised aluminum platform on the front that is the same shape as the deck on that boat. Raise it about 10-12" and put the lights under the platform with railings about knee height. Under the platform you can stow the bows during runs to different locations and also still be able to access the compartments. Also, the deck will be removable so I can use it for regular fishing. Something like this, but not so many lights

I definitely like those kinds of setups, where the entire front desk is turned into a bowfishing desk with lights underneath.

Metal Halide puts out the cleanest light and cuts through the murkiest of water. Uses a shite ton of power as well.
Look for DIY Cree LED Kits. I know many aquarium enthusiasts are moving from Halide to Cree LED's/

This is my brother's boat. LED's work great and it's a small boat so maximum of 3 people bowfishing at once.
We can get in really shallow water, (less than a foot) which makes it ideal for bowfishing (especially if the water is muddy, which happens a lot).
Someone in Dallas rigged the lights up for him and we then installed them on the boat. We fish out of Dulac.
We use these rigs bought off of Amazon. $400 apiece, but they are really nice.

Led's suck in water that isn't clear
Go with high pressure sodium. We have 4 right now and are upgrading to 8-10 in the next few weeks.

What.exactly sucks about LED's in murky water? They can be made on all sorts of different Kelvin ratings and stacked for different water conditions. The power output of Cree LEDs is actually higher than HPS in focused beams.
