Bois d’arc slabs???
Posted by arbe25 on 12/5/18 at 9:51 am10
A friend of mine has a massive bois d’ark he wants removed. It is prob 5-6 feet before it splits. Do you guys think it would be worth getting some slabs cut?

You could make a good chunk of change off that tree.

5-6' of trunk before it splits (forks?) or 5-6' diameter? If its 5-6' diameter gonna have trouble finding someone to saw it unless you split the log or find a slab mill. Also if its a yard tree may be full of nails, fence wire, clothes lines, etc. If its saw able should make some nice slabs for tables, benches, etc.

About 6 ft before it splits. About 24” diameter

If its not full of nails & wire saw it live edge and about 2-1/4" thick. Stack with dry stickers to avoid sticker stain. You should be able to get something for them from wood workers. It can always be re-sawn later if someone wants different sizes.
