How long of a boat ride is this? I’ve never put my boat in and made this run and thinking about taking the Mom for mother’s day tomorrow.

Not sure of the exact time but that’s quite a haul. Maybe try finding the distance and or your path on google earth then deviding by your average cruising speed I bet it is longer than you think.

13 or 14 miles across the lake out of Blind River outlet...9 or 10 if you hit the lake at Amite River outlet...
the wind is everything in deciding on crossing the lake unless you have a craft that can handle it...

Holy crap.... just plotted that run on a map using google earth app. Following all contours of the river from Fred’s, down to blind river, and straight shot across the lake... it’s a 35 mile run from Fred’s to middendorfs... which means 35 back... that’s a long arse haul man

Edit: you can use the google maps app to drop a pin on the map, then there’s a measure distance feature that allows you to plot out exact distances between as many points as you want.

Depends on the boat. In my 21 Blazer or 18 Carolina, bad ride. 38' Carver, long day but good ride.

That's a run and a half.... just to get some average seafood.

I'll be in a 22' blue wave. Looks like if i put in at Canal Bank Club off LA-22, it will be about a 25 mile run. Which isn't terrible. The run would probably take me an hour. I've never crossed lake maurepas though, i think we will give it a shot.

Sunday
Southeast winds near 5 knots. Waves 1 foot or less. Dominant period 4 seconds.

looks like the lake will be more than manageable...
be safe...

I have run what I call the “loop” many times. I leave from Tickfaw River, cross the lake to the Blind river, then hit the Diversion Canal. We will eat lunch some where over there usually Hilltop Inn and then catch the Amite River back to the lake. It’s about a 75 mile run but we enjoy it. It’s pretty much a full day affair and I blow through a full tank of fuel. The deciding factor is the condition of the lake.

We crossed lake. Maurepas in a 20ft bass boat during a thunderstorm. I got wet, but I lived.

Not sure the miles but we use to launch my 22' center console at St James Boat Club and pull tubes and knee boards between there and the diversion then we'd load up the kids and head out to the sand bar in Maurepas for a little while and then shoot across to Middendorfs for lunch and then reverse it back. It was a full day but the tubing and swimming broke up the ride. The kids didn't even complain about the ride. Just make sure you watch for no wake zones, other boaters and that you have all your equipment and registrations current.

Also, Blind River is called that for two reasons, the one you need to know is storms come from the west this time of year. Many of folks have drowned in the lake due to weather while trying to get back in safe harbor.

You can put in at Canal Bank on the Diversion and save about 30 minutes. You can make Canal Bank to Middendorfs in about 1:15 to 1:30 minutes

Meh, I often run about 70 miles each way fishing, 35 in semi protected water is no biggie in the right boat.

Time for an after-action report. How was the boat ride and did you Mom enjoy the trip?

Boat ride was great. We put in across from Kevin’s seafood (not sure what launch/bar that is) around 10am and we were at Middendorfs before 11am. It was a tad over 22 miles there. I ran about 35 the entire way and the lake was flat. Super easy trip compared to my average fishing trip. I didn’t even burn a quarter of a tank of fuel. The mother loves bed it, even stopped at the sandbar for a swim on the way back.
