I am new to the boat/vehicle buying process. I am buying a new boat from a dealer in Arkansas. The loan has already been approved and processed with AR sales tax included because I originally thought I was going to have to register it in Arkansas. However, I would prefer to register the boat in Louisiana. I am from Louisiana, and I have a LA driver's license, but I have been living in Arkansas for work since I graduated college (3 months). I'm really trying to avoid having to get an Arkansas driver's license through this whole process. Could the dealer just cut me a check back for the sales tax in the loan and I use that to pay for LA sales tax when I take it to get registered at the DMV in Louisiana? I'm trying to figure all of this out. I've never done this before

If you have experience buying a boat from out of state and registering it in state, please share. TIA

What did you get? I ordered a Havoc from AR back in March. I did not pay any sales tax in AR and Registered in AL. At that point, I had to pay state taxes. I wish I could get a license in AR so I could get out of OOS license fee's and bullshite OOS management area rules they are trying to push...

It's a Xpress HD16DBX. Just a nice little camo duck boat. I'm considering just getting an Arkansas driver's license and not worrying about it.
