Just a 22' bayboat.

Looking for a good clean and wax. Suggestions?

I guess while I'm asking, anyone have any first hand experience with one of these high dollar ceramic coatings?

Geaux Preaux mobile detailing pops up on my fb a bunch. Hes done some freemans in the coating.

I have a modesta coating on my truck. It helps keep the finish perfect, but I don't think it will hold up on a boat, just my opinion. Salt water environment and fishing is just too harsh in my mind.

Always wondered what this cost. Can you say what exactly you had done and what it cost or ballpark? I need some help with a 22' bay boat and thinking I want to get it done right the first time and then keep it up myself after.

DON'T USE THAT CRAP. That will be the biggest mistake you will ever do. Sure, easy to apply, but breaks down fast and turns very yellow.

Google the outcome of having a boat done with that stuff.
Also, check www.thehullthruth.com People reported all kinds of problems using that crap to the point that they had to lite sand their hulls to remove it.

Problem is that gelcoat needs to be sealed to keep its true color. A acid bath to remove water stain lines first and then wax, wax and more wax to seal the gelcoat. After that is done, one good waxing a year will keep the boat like new. There is no quick fix to upkeeping a boat.

I had a friend who got his brand new Denali 2500 done by another local Baton Rouge detail company. It was an absolute disaster and had to be taken in several times for them to get it right.

Stay away from Ceramic Pro type products. The name is misleading in and of itself. Do it yourself. 3m compound or polish once a year, then Collinite paste fleetwax twice a year.

I would add that if you have bad oxidation, a wet sand will help bring back some life.

I just used the collinite 920 cleaner and 925 wax on my boat and it looks brand new. I just did the inside last weekend but it got stains and scratches out plus the shine is amazing. best part is it was $25 on amazon and took me about 3 hours.

925 works great. 885 is a bit more durable though. I detailed as a side job some years ago, and I would always go 920 then 925. Now, I replaced the 920 step with 3M Finesse It II just because it has a little bit of cutting power, and I follow that with 885 paste. The 885 is a little harder to work with, but it lasts longer.

Unfortunately, like someone said earlier, there is no quick one step finish to boat maintenance. I'm polishing and waxing mine Saturday, then I'll wax it again probably in July after another ~80 hours. If you want to keep your hull looking new, you've gotta be diligent about it. Your resale value will thank you later.

Way more than the ceramic pro that geaux preaux uses. If I had it to do over again, I would probably go that route.

I think Hi Performance does an excellent job, I doubt there is anyone better if you want to bring it to the next level. But for my truck, it was probably a little bit of overkill.

Ive had modesta on for 2 years and I just got them to tighten it up a month or two ago. I didnt have any marring or micro abrasions, I had a problem with waterspot buildup and scratches from branches.

It's looking brand new again and i'm happy with it. From what I have seen from Geaux Preaux I think I would be equally happy with his work.

GP quoted me $135/ft for CeramicPro.

135 x 22 = 2970
