When I purchased my Egg I had a custom covered area to cook in. Now, I don't have a covered area anymore. I have it in a nest with the BGE cover to protect from weather. My question is, If I am cooking and it starts raining will it crack it? I have wanted to cook several times, but with it raining every damn day, I'm scared to!! TIA

No it won't crack, but be sure you check the tightness of the band that secures the lid. I opened my egg the other day only for the lid to flip out and onto the concrete. That, my friend, will crack it.

New ones have additional tabs on the top bad just for that reason. Apparently temp fluctuations were causing bands to loosen.

There are plenty of people online saying they cool in sub freezing weather....doubt rain will be worse than that. Plus warranty should cover ceramics.

Don't have one yet but I am looking at buying one. I think the issue with the BGE is that if it cracks they will replace it for free, not sure but I think that's one of the selling points.

It shouldn't crack it. If the guys up north can cook with in the freezing cold, I dont think rain will hurt it.

I have a $59 8x8 pop up academy canopy I use to cover mine in bad weather. Its always been a great temporary shelter in the rain.

I installed some clips on my primo to prevent the prevent the lid form sliding out.

I was just gifted a BGE for my birthday/Fathers day. Do I need to buy the BGE brand cover for it, or will any grill cover work?

I bought the green egg one probably 6 years ago. My egg sits in the sun on a patio. It is holding up great and looks like I will get at least a few more years out of it.

Im sure others are fine, but i feel im getting great value out of the bge one.
