Would like to pick up 3-4 quality bream set ups for fishing with my kids. Not saying the best, but I’d like something that I can use all day and be happy with. I have plenty of small spinning reels and I know the answer is just teach them how to use a spinning reel, but I have 3 kids and I’d like to get some spincast or triggerspin type of reels I can do serious breambusting with and just keep rigged and ready.

My kids are 2-7 right now so probably get a solid 10 years of use.

Who make the combo reels where the warranty expires 30 minutes after you purchase it?

Pflueger spin cast are the best. I have a few Zebco 33’s but those Pluegers are awesome.

Lee’s makes a Mr. Crappie line of reels that I have had good luck with lately. Have one on its third season and it’s doing good.

Yeah I didn’t see them. You can find a zebco from $20 to $99 so I wasn’t sure what it was all about. I’m not planning on using them for anything but Bream, I just want to be able to use the same reel as my kids and be happy with it.

I’ve learned the hard way, but the Omega Zebco I bought my 7 year old two years ago has been bulletproof. By far worth the extra money

I bought my 4-year-old this little Lews set up. He loves it. I think it's a 5.5 or 6 foot rod. Really light action, great for Bream.

Young kids get zebco 33 or 22.
Shakespeare/ Pflueger, abu Garcia, Diawa has a lower level spin cast, and Lews have low end bait caster lures.

Rods every major retailer has light rods
-Basspro
- academy
- dicks
- independents

I keep some at the camp and changed the cheap bearings which is one on the shaft and one for the crank handle with cheap ball bearings.
Crank smooth and cast a little further.

Now for my handicap son I got an omega along with Diawa black & golds which are nicer gears, frame, and bearings which for him is fine.

Academy; Lews Underspin

I bought a couple of these and they are great. Cast a beetle spin about 30 yards. Take off the string and put some quality 4lb test on it if you going to chunk beetle spins, if you going to fish under a cork 6lb test would be better for the occasional catfish you may catch.

I bought of these for my son. I guess I got a junk one. I can barely cast it much less my 6 year old son. I have to squeeze the shite out of trigger to cast or the bait immediately drops. My son doesn't have the grip strength. Oh well, it's an emergency rod now.

I have at least 4 Zebco 33's from the 80's that still work fine. Of course, I took care of them back then. Good cleaning and greasing at least once a year. I think 2 of them have replaced handles because they fell off and somehow got lost.

Get vintage reels! Zebco 33's pre 83 are good, but my favorite are old Abu Garcia reels, those things are bullet proof. You can get them in excellent shape for less than a modern reel and they will last a lifetime.
