The land I hunt is approximately 5 hours away. It has two creeks that cross it and both are restricted by beaver dams. The larger creek actually floods the south end of the property and most of the timber has died off as a result. I need to get rid of the beavers and open up the creeks. Trapping and hunting aren't feasible due to the distance. I've heard you could set up some kerosene cans to drip slowly into the water and that'll cause the beavers to leave. Supposedly the kerosene on the waters surface irritates their eyes and skin. Has anyone else heard of this or any other solution. TIA and hopefully I'l get some good suggestions amongst the wise crack I'm sure this post will attract.

Hire someone from that area to trap them.

Use the ponds to hunt ducks. Beaver ponds are duck magnets.

Have tried but only wood ducks and we have enough natural sloughs that I don't need 40 acres of dead timber to kill woodies.

Someone who doesn't read has no advantage over someone who can't. Thanks anyways.

We've got the same problem except the beavers are coming into our pond and are trying to block up the outlet pipe on the backside of the pond. We just stocked the pond last week and the supplier told us we definitely needed to get rid of them.

Set full propane bottle in strategic spot on dam. Get far away. Shoot it with rifle. Boom

Any catastrophic benefits besides a loud BOOM?

I bet the EPA would love to know this

Limited time? Not only do you have to remove the beavers, you need to tear down the dams, beaver lodge, etc.

Best thin I've seen for this is Dynamite. Get some from your local seismograph company...

They just give that to anybody, how much does it cost? How much would I need per damn? Do they loan you that pump thingy or give you fuses?

CSB:
My BIL's preacher used to make it. He brought a 1/4 stick dove hunting one day, set it under a 5 gal bucket and launched it a good 50-75 ft in the air. It made a perfect baseball sized hole in the end of it.
