Over past several weeks several bears seen around Ruston area. The word is that LDWF released 14 south of Ruston. Go figure!!! Wasn't bad enough with the hog problem so now we got us some bears!!!

bears might help a bit with the hog problem.

the difference is that bears belong in the Louisiana ecosystem while hogs are invasive. Hopefully the population could get to a level that supports hunting them.

Released some in Kisatchie East of Sabine Lake and West and South of Winnfield too off of Hwy 84. North of the Atlanta and Wheeling area. Lot of sightings recently and locals are heading to the woods to scout and get ready for season and are seeing the signs and posting on FB. Area has been bear free for decades. Also LDWF caught on in downtown Winnfield recently and had to relocate back with the rest of them.

Saw the biggest bear I have seen yet off hey 65 at lake Bruin. Popular bear crossing spot but this boar was easily over 300lbs with balls that looked like they came off of a longhorn

Go over in the pecan orchards around the old KOA. They are in there all the time.

Imagine that! Sure hope the latest movement to put the bears back on the list they just got off of by some tree huggers doesn't pan out. It's time for a tag/lottery system!

A few years ago we got one on a game camera on some of our property in Bernice. It knocked over a feeder.

I used to roam those woods all the time when I was younger. Not a care in the world knowing that I was the biggest animal out there..... Not anymore.

This is under my aunt’s garage in Ruston. The same place and freezer a bear got into 3 years ago. They know where to find the blue bell
