Going to the beach in a couple of weeks and after 15 years of wagging the shite back and forth I would like to make it a little easier.

Something to Cary a decent size cooler, couple of umbrellas, radio and four beach chairs. Most of what I have seen will not roll on the sand, they wind up dragging it.

I have thought about modifying the axle on a two wheel hand trucks to accept lawn mower tires??

Ideas, experiences and pictures of your cart would be great.

And for your troubles

What about the metal carts that they have at lowes, with the expanded metal and big rubber tires?

I have one and it works great for hauling tools around the yard, and fishing gear if I'm fishing from the banks

I'm not sure it would hold all the stuff you are talking about without stacking but I would love to own one of these.

LINK

ETA: I just looked again and the one I posted is the larger one. They make a smaller version which is also much cheaper.

Add pvc pipe sections on outside for umprella poles, fishing rods, ext.

I'm tall so adding extra length on the handle would be nice.

If you need extra tire width to prevent sinking (we have not) simply replace wheel hub bolts with longer ones and bolt an extra tire to each wheel for a dually type thing.

The sides fold down to accomodate what ever size you need.

AL would be lighter and steel rusts but wash down with water each usage, and it should last many years with an occasional extra coat of rustoleum.

My sister has one of the coolers with the radio in it and she likes it.

I like all the suggestions above, has anyone used any of these? Any reviews?

That's exactly what we have. I works pretty good on the sand.

The problem is overloading it and making it too heavy. Just use common sense and make multiple trips if you have to. Nothing is going to pull through the sand good with 250 lbs. of shite stacked on it.

As the kids get older the amount of shite is decreasing. I'm thinking the load will be in the 100 lb range.

I seen that one, that is what got me to thinking about modifying my hand trucks with bigger tires. The ballon tires are pretty expensive if I remember correctly. I have a welder and old lawnmower tires should be easy to find.

i've heard of people using lawn mower inner tubes for beach tires. Just slip it over a rim and inflate LINK

Kept it simple. Hijacked the kids Radio Flyer and mounted some rod holders. Styrofoam chest w aerator for bait then just misc tackle. Will do what I need it to hopefully. Got a feelin the wheels are gonna give me trouble in the sand, didnt feel like spending more $ just for this 1 trip. [/img]

You could be rolling on some Harbor Freight 10" all terrains for $15.

Those wheels are going to suck in the sand with a 100lb load. Maybe you can just rig up some sort of sled to pull? Wheeleez are the best, but they are high.

Yea i figured that. Was kind of thrown together at the last min and with work, I havent had time. Im thinkin i can just man handle it until i get to the packed sand close to the water and I should be ok. Wish I woulda seen those wheels earlier.
