are sure doing well in NWLA. I am seeing at least one every month in different areas up here.
Anyone else seeing them more frequent in your part of the state?

I saw a pair for the first time ever at Hermann Park golf course which is in the middle of Houston. Had no idea they were here.

About three years ago they were all over Grand Bayou area and near Amelia.

I cannot go to any lake around here without seeing at least one. Red river too. Toledo? Holy cow. Mid-lake and the dam area are over run. I expect an experimental season to open any year now.

I see one around the house from time to time. Here are a few pictures that I have taken...

In the swamps south of the intercoastal in St. Mary's parish there are at least 15 nests within a few miles of each other. Theres also 3 nest along dularge road and 3 more along the houma nav channel. 2 more in bluebird canal. That's just the ones I have seen in my last 2 fishing trips.

Mating season????

My daughter took a picture last week of one in the top of her neighbors tall pine on Pargoud Blvd. in Monroe.

They have already mated. Probably have one or two in the nest about now. They mate early down south for some reason. See some everytime I go fishing/hunting around here. Saw one in town just cruising around the neighborhood last year. See em do some neat things, like pick up fish, chase geese and the ike.

There's at least two on Cross Lake that come back every year. They have a nest on the east end. I saw one of them last week and he was HUGE. Biggest one I've ever seen.
It's funny watching the water turkeys scramble when that sucker starts coming towards them. You might have a thousand of the things rafting up and in the cypress trees but that eagle gets within a quarter mile of them and they all suddenly discover they have somewhere else they need to be.

You think? I can't see them opening a season on eagles.

Does it taste anything like Brown Pelican?

Like Osprey. A little more fishy than owl.
