Attention Yamaha 200 HPDI owners

I'd like to get feedback on if you like them? I'm talking from '07 and up. A buddy had one and loved it over his 4 stroke. Just trying to get more feedback.
Good, strong motor. Good power/weight ratio.
Would recommend cleaning/replacing the O2 sensor each time you change the water pump, and running Yamalube Ring Free consistently. Both of these practices will reduce carbon build up, which sometimes caused these motors to run lean and burn a piston.

Puravida, I was told to change the fuel filters yearly, add ringfree and yamalube. I saw a thread on the hull truth and some guys had 3,000 plus hours on their engines with very little maintenance. I also heard to run all the fuel out even if you aren't using ethanol.

I have an '08 that I have owned for over a year. It only had 121 hours on it when I got it. Runs like a top. Do a full service on it once a year (plugs, impeller, etc) in June when I put it up.

Do you do it or do you send it to a shop?

3000 hours on an outboard is pretty spectacular

I have a 2008 on a 22’ Blazer Bay- absolutely love it. Never have had really any trouble at all.
I find it’s actually pretty easy on fuel, has a hood hole shot, and is pretty quiet.
Last year, the starter relay went out- but I caught it before I was on the water.

i believe the majority of the problems were with the 225 and up earlier generations. as others stated, stay on top of the maintenance and no ethanol. I had a 150 and it was a good motor.

I had a 2008 200 HPDI that was a great motor until it popped last year. It was a great motor up until that point, but I know a number of people who have had that motor who have blown power heads.

My '04 250 HPDI popped last year with 488 hours on it. I think the worst issues may have been 225 and up, but there is a ton of info out there if you research it. Do your due diligence before buying and good luck.
