Are drop away rest worth the trouble/cost?

I just ordered a PSE Drive XL, trying to decide what all I want to put on it. Was planning on going with a drop away rest, but it seems like each of them have their own complaints and weaknesses. Thinking of just going with the nicer Whisker Biscuit now (what I've always used). Bow will be used mostly in the backyard, but I want it to be woods ready. TIA.

I have a QAD drop away and it works great. I’ve never had any problems with it. I let a bow shop put it on and set it, and it’s worked flawlessly for me.

There are 0 reasons not to have a drop away on your hunting bow

Well hell, thoughts on Trophy Taker, HDX, Vapor Trail, Ripcord.

QAD drop away. Don't get the base model. I think mine is the HDX. It was pretty easy to set up and tune myself.

When I switched from whisker biscuit to drop away years ago, my groups tightened a considerable amount.
I have used a vapor trail limb driver pro-V the last two years and have been generally satisfied. I liked the idea of basically it can be retied in the field in case something happens and they support the arrow 30% longer than a string driven rest.
I’ve been thinking of changing to the QAD integrated rest just because that seems like what the entire industry is shooting now and there has to be a reason they are so popular. Or their marketing dept. is razooing me

I have an HHA Virtus on both of my Elite E35's. Easy to setup and have no complaints.

I hated my QAD because of the noise it made on draw regardless of the arrow used especially on a humid day. I use a Ripcord Ace and a Hamske Micro Pro. I prefer the Hamske but both are better options that the QAD HDX IMO.

My buddy had that complaint. He killed a nice +140” deer and it was real cold that morning. When drawing back, the arrow made a loud noice pulling across the rest during the entire draw. Made the deer look up but was fortunately still able to kill him.

A different type of felt or moleskin on the rest's launcher arm should eliminate that issue.

The biggest deer I've ever had in range bolted on me when I drew back. Sounded like a damn violin.
Mole skin helped some, but I just quit fooling with it and got a better rest.

Quick question. I see that some of these rest have windage adjustment built into them. I was always under the impression that you set the rest up to match the bow, and adjust windage with sights. When would you want to make those adjustements with the rest?

I've been using a ripcord for a few years. Love the ability to set the rest in the up position. Quiet, never had any issues.

When you're setting the bow up or paper tuning.

I dont like em. I'm a whisker biscuit guy. I've never had a reason to change, and I don't like unnecessary mechanical stuff.

It’s has the marks to make it easier for adjusting your centershot

Yes they are. Hamske Micro Pro or QAD HDX.

I never liked the idea of my arrow touching another object during the draw or release. Therefore, I have never shot a whisker biscuit apparatus and always had a drop-away for as long as I can remember.
