Is there a location in Baton Rouge that would have copies of conventional deeds? I am trying to find a copy of a survey of some property sold in Calcasieu Parish in 1971. It would be appreciated if you identify its name.

Calcasieu Clerks office (but that's not in Baton Rouge) would be my best guess, and your date range is outside of their online access.

Just go down to the Parish clerk of court and search conveyance records

I located the cash deed in the conveyance book but a surevey of the property was not included. An attorney told me that there was a locaton in Baton Rouge had reords of conventional surveys and expropriations.

Sometimes a neighboring land owner's deed or survey will have reference to what you may be looking for.

The state archive is off of Essen. But I don’t know if they would have the info you are looking for or not.

Go back to the clerk and ask if they have plats stored separately. My Clerk's office does. I know it was a long time ago, but if you know who did the survey, you could get a copy from him if he's still around.
